So what do you do on your first day at the Fort? You get to decide what you consider your first day depending on your time of arrival. It may be the day you check in if you get there early or your first "full" day.

On this poll, you can check all that apply.

We always do Downtown Disney because we don't get to the Fort until early afternoon. By the time we get set up, we don't want to waste a day on our passes since the day's already half way over with.

We usually arrive in the early afternoon after three days of travel, so we set up, get a late lunch/early dinnner and then relax until the next day.

We usually time our 4-day drive to ensure that we arrive for check-in at about 11:00 a.m. Well before the official 1:00 p.m. check-in time.

Naturally the site is not ready, but usually they will give us the site number. We pull over to overflow parking, unhook the car and head to Downtown Disney for lunch - at Earl of Sandwich . . . it's become our tradition - just LOVE their sandwiches! (Use your AAA card for a discount)

Then we head back and check out our site. Normally it's ready to go so we begin to set up camp.

Later we'll hop the boat to Magic Kingdom for dinner and we sail back in time to see Wishes and the Electric Water Pageant from the dock before we head to bed!

That's how we ease ourselves into the magic!

Our family is also a big fan of Earl of Sandwich. We usually eat there at least once during our stay and go by on our way home for the breakfast sandwiches.

this sounds like an EXCELENT plan!!

I have a question though, do you have to pay to get into down town disney? as well where is this place

On our arrival day at Disney, (next April will only be our 2nd stay at the Fort) but we try to arrive and check in as early as possible, then chill for a bit, and then head to DTD for a late lunch early dinner, make our Mouse Ears and let the kids play in the fountains.

We arrive around noon, set up the coach and go to Epcot to get something to eat. As DVC members we get a discount at the chinese restraunt. We then go back to the fort walk the dog and relax. That night we go back to Epcot have dinner and walk the loop. we stay for the show and go back to the fort and have a fire then sleep.

No, you don't have to pay to get into Downtown Disney, it's free. But in my experience, you cannot get out without paying. At least that's how my DW sees it!

The Earl of Sandwich is beside the Pin Trading Store, not far from the Christmas Shop. Give it a try, we sure like it!

After 2 very long days of travel we just stay at the fort and relax. We only leave on our first day to go to the grocery store.

On our first and last days at the Fort we don't plan anything! If we are lucky enough to get there early we go to DTD to eat at Earl of Sandwhich or Wolfgang Pucks Express, nap then head for dinner, back to the Fort to go to bed fairly early after 2 days of driving (we take our time we are on vacation after all lol) OR we might go catch the movie at the meadows and go looping... so many things to do without going to the parks!

We usually arrive late afternoon, and have a Giddyup and Go as our first night dinner, then the kids always want to go to the campfire singalong.
This trip we'll be there in the morning. So we might spend the day at Epcot, but we'll still have a GAG for dinner. :)
