Having trouble making a decision so I'm going to bring it to the experts ;)

We're going the end of April, planning 3 days in the parks. (First trip, 2 adults, staying off site, maxpass) I'm having trouble deciding if one weekend night is enough or if we should do Fri AND Sat. I'd love to do both Fantasmic and fireworks, so with one night we'd have to do both the same night. I've been reading a lot and it sounds like much of the park is essentially gridlocked or shut down during the shows anyways, so I think I'm okay doin that.

But our favorite times when we have been at WDW were after the shows at night. Historically, it looks like fri/sat DL is open til 12. So here's where I'm stuck - will it be better to have more evening time but a busier day (on Saturday) or go with the lower daytime crowds (wed) but an earlier closing time?

Looking for some experienced opinions! Thank you!

Assuming DL has a similar schedule on a Saturday in April to the summer entertainment, you could probably see fireworks and then try to go to the second F!. There really isn't enough time after the first F! to make it Main Street to see fireworks. They do project the images onto the mist screens around the Rivers of America, but I didn't think the experience was the same (or even really very close). If they still have it, I would consider doing one of the F! dining packages for the second show. All that being said, fireworks at Disneyland do get cancelled due to weather. So the general advice is to plan to see them as early in the trip as possible so that way, if they're cancelled, you have a fall back night. In your case, if you do plan a second weekend night and they get cancelled on Friday, there is still a chance that might be presented on Saturday.

Are you a morning person? I've found that even on weekends, the mornings are still the best time to get a lot of attractions done. Assuming the park opens earlier on the weekends as well, I think there is a chance that you can get more done in the first few hours of a Saturday morning (although, it will be DL's EMH/MM, so TL and FL will already be busy) than on a weekday morning (if the park opens later). It really depends on what time the parks opens on Wednesday versus Saturday. If it's 8:00 am on Saturday and 10:00 am on Wednesday, then I would go with the Saturday and the earlier opening in the hopes of getting more done.
