My boyfriend and I have been together 7 years and have to kids and just haven't had the money to get married. I read a post about the cruise wedding and it sounded very interesting. I looked up the prices and they look interesting too! I have a couple of questions for anyone that has done this...

We have a cruise for Dec. 5 already set through Dreams Unlimited can we add a wedding ceremony?

Is there some kind of reception after the wedding if family members decided to come to the wedding? (of course, only if it is in thier budget) My parents are already going to be there so if that is all that can make it that would be fine with me. I understand the cruise is very expensive for other family members?

The website said the wedding is the day at sea is it at night or during the day or do you have a choice since obviously a minister is stuck on the ship for the fout nights anyway do you miss alot?

I also have two kids that will be sailing with us and I want them to be in my room with us (we have been living together for a few years so the kids in the room will be fine having our own room isn't anything new)

Any info would be great. I guess if we are going to do this I have to call disney soon, also I might want to let my future husband know too!!!

We were asked to be witnesses at a wedding during the Eastern Car. cruise in March (2 of the CM's). A wedding on the ship wasnt possible for them, so they married in St.Thomas at the Courthouse, then went to the local church, then we all went for a champagne lunch at a lovely restuarant. Not an expensive way of doing it, but maybe less glitzy than you would want. They do have weddings on board, but we have only seen the happy couples and guests posing for photos in the Atrium! Also, many weddings are conducted in Key West: may be worth looking into. Anyway, congratulations to you both - long and happy lives together. Wish we had honeymooned on the Magic! I don't know if a vow renewal is less expensive, but that may be an option for you if you get married at a Justice of Peace in your county prior to your cruise. At least here, you pay for your marriage license, then a fee to the JOP for the service, and poof, you're legally married! I read in another post that $$ was a concern for the wedding (believe me, I know!!), but you can do it pretty cheap in a courthouse to make it "official", then have some time to work out the celebration of your choice....DCL would be great way to celebrate!

There was a marriage on CC while we were on the 04/04/04 Wonder cruise...maybe another option. We saw the bride and groom riding in a golf cart with a just married sign on it driving around the island.

I'm not getting married on a Disney cruise but I thought I'd tell you a bit about what I'm doing.

We are getting married on the January 8th Eastern cruise on Carnaval Cruise Line. We were able to get a really really good group discount for all our guests ($400 per person! + tax) and made it affordable for our guests (I love Disney and wish it could be done, but Carnaval is soo much more cost effective). We will be married on Jan 11 in St Thomas. I spoke to our TA yesterday and she told me that on the day of our wedding either me or my fiance will have to go to the county courthouse in St Thomas and pick up the marriage licence in person. The cost for the licence was $200 but that also includes the transportation to the courthouse and back to the ship. We will have our wedding on board the ship but we also had options to have our wedding on a beach or garden. We had to chose the ship because of the amount of people attending.

This is an impossibilty, unless you are in Canadian waters. I looked into this and appartenly it is illegal to be married "at sea". You can only be married at a port of call. Also, the person who does your ceremony is probably going to be a Justice or "officiant", not a minister.

One thing I am not sure about, hopefully someone can help clear this up, but if I'm not mistaken, the only day on a Disney Cruise that you can be married is at Castaway Cay on the last day of the cruise. I'm not sure about this though.

I'm sure that if you called your TA or Disney about adding a wedding package they would be more than happy to accomadate but remember it will be all based on availibility. If all thier wedding slots are booked than you may be out of luck. I would call as soon as you think that this may be a possbility.

Our cruise on on Jan 8 - 15 on Carnaval. On the 15th, we will depart the "Glory", and wave goodbye to everyone while we are boarding our Honeymoon cruise! We are also going to the Western on the Magic on the 15th of Jan!

On our 11/15/03 Eastern 2 couples were married on Thursday when we were at Sea. Friends went on the galley tour & saw the cakes & then when we were waiting in line to have our pictures taken on the stairway by the tree, they brought one of the couples to the front of the line to have their pictures taken in their wedding attire.

I am getting married on CC this October.

The price for the wedding is $2,900 and includes the wedding licenses for both FL & the Bahamas, the 2-tier cake, reception in Palo's with 1 bottle of champaigne, bouquet, boutineer, on-ship coordinator that also handles making the reservations for your group, 1 8x10 photo, gifts in your state room, and $100 on-board credit.

You get married on Castaway Cay at 10am and are taken over to the spot (Head's UP bar on the adult beach) via the decorated golf cart.

There was a thread on here last Friday about wedding stories on CC. One sentance that was posted as a reply jumped out at me. They were talking about how wonderful it was to have conceirge service, because embarkation day was hectic when they were whisked away by Disney in the morning to have a civil ceremony then back tot he ship right before sailing.

This leads me to believe the "legal" marriage is on shore before departure and the "ceremony" is aboard ship or CC for the guests and couple.

It just sort of stood out in my mind

Married July 4th on CC. There is a small reception after the ceremony at Palo. Cake and champagne. Plus you can get dinner ressies for Palo that night for some more celebrating. Yes you can add on the wedding package. My son (6) absolutly loved EVERYTHING about the whole thing. Concierge service is included. The legal service is done at the port before the ship leaves however. No biggie in my mind, but could be to others. I alos think the minister is from an island around CC and comes in the perform the ceremonies as he had a beautiful accent. There is also an option to have the ceremony on the ship in Sessions on one of the sea days. I could talk about my wedding all day, so I'll stop now, but any ?'s and I'll start up again!

The legal marriage, which is recognized by the state of Florida and the whole of the USA is done before the boat sails and is basically a civil ceremony with a Justice of the Peace?

The actual ceremony is then done either by the ship's Captain or by a minister on Castaway Cay (for the religious recognition)?

Just wanted to be sure I had that straight....not that I need to know or anything

My daughter was married on CC in September. They sent the Administrator of the Bahamas (also a minister) over from Abaco to perform the ceremony. We were worried that it would be a quick "You are now husband & wife", but it was a very nice ceremony, traditional, and with some prayer. Perfect.
The JP for the marriage in Florida (done in a private room at the port) is also a Disney Cast Member, and does a "fairy tale" reading, and it's really nice.
They now have two official marriage licenses....one in the state of Florida, and one in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. We keep teasing the groom that he can't divorce her, since he'd have to do it twice!
DCL did so many wonderful extra things, and for the cost, I can't imagine doing another wedding any differently. It was beyond perfect......and their pictures are outstanding. The whole experience was a dream come true.

If you get married on cc I noticed it was more expensive then on the ship why?

Do they make exceptions for kids getting onto the adult beach (please don't yell)I wouldn't want our kids to miss it and wouldn't do it if they couldn't be there?

Are the weddings traditional flower girl maid of honor ring bearer ect.?

Do they video tape it or do we have to do it on our own?

Will they give discounts for family members that want to come?

What exactly is concierge service?

Do the kids miss alot of activities because of the wedding?

If the reception is at Palo's will the kids be able to come? (I know it is adult only please don't yell at me!)

Do you have a view of the ocean from sessions?

I guess the answer is Disney World or ANOTHER Disney cruise!

We do plan on spending 4 nights at wdw after the cruise so that will be our honeymoon kind of (shared with our 2 kids) but my money will be gone by then and we'll just have to save for another trip the next year.

I'll try to answer your questions....

The cost of the wedding is on top of (in addition to) the cost of your cruise.
The wedding on CC is at the Heads Up Bar, outside on the dock. You'd never know you were near a bar...the windows are shuttered, and the view out over the water is stunning, with the ship in the background. The kids are allowed there.
My daughter had four attendants, and a ring bearer...no flower girl because we don't have any little girls. They were all dressed as if it were a church wedding at home, and so were we.
We all got a group discount, but you have to have 8 staterooms booked to be a "group". Being a group, or concierge (which would apply to your family asthe wedding party) allows you to pre-book excursions, Palo, Kids' Clubs, etc.
The kids are allowed in Palo for the reception....my younger kids (ages 13 & 10) thought that was really cool that they got to go in there and other kids couldn't.
It makes sense that they would charge more for a CC wedding than one on the ship. They decorate the cart that transports you to and from the ceremony site, they'll decorate the site (if you supply the stuff) they roll out an aisle runner, they have the keyboardist over there....it's more work for them than doing it onboard.
Yes....beautiful view from Sessions. Just not as exotic as outside.
They will videotape with your camera....our girl didn't really know how, but she did a great job!
Their photographer did an EXCELLENT job!
You will have a wedding co-ordinator who is constantly there to take care of every little detail...he even showed up to take us to the ceremony with a box of tissues just in case we forgot! He handled taking all of our decorations, flowers (we took silk), everythingto Palo to decorate up there. He called to see what we needed, unbelieveable. Almost better than concierge, which we've had twice.
Concierge is nice...the extra sodas, the little goodies. BUT if I weren't in a suite because I needed the room, or if I weren't doing a wedding onboard.....I wouldn't pay for concierge, it's just not that big of a deal. It's included in the cost of the wedding & the cost of a suite....but I would not book a suite just for that...only for the space.
As for the kids missing anything on CC...I'm one of the ONLY people who don't think CC is that big a deal (I see flames).....we haven't taken our kids to the planned programs at CC, because they don't take them to the water, and you couldn't keep ours out of the water. You will be busy with wedding stuff from the time you wake up, until noon. We ate lunch at Parrot Cay, rather than going out to Cookie's, which is hot, crowded, and not that great. Then we put our swimsuits on and went snorkeling, and did two banana boat rides. The bride and groom went parasailing. So, yes...you still have time to do fun stuff. About four hours.

That sounds so nice. I think I will do this if I can talk my fiance into it he is afraid people might be mad that we didn't have a big thing here in chicago so they all can come, but it is so expensive and honestly not my dream wedding my dream wedding would be on a beach or cruise ship. I think it will be so pretty. I am also happy you don't miss the whole day at cc I would hate to have my kids miss anything. I am going to have my fiance read these posts and I think he will be covinced. My parents are going to be on the cruise with us so at least they will see it and anyone else who wants to come will get a discount if we have enough people.
