Hello. I'm getting married Jan 3rd. It will be a budget wedding $2,200-$2,500

I have some 50% off coupons for Michaels. What exactly do i need for the Catholic ceremony?
unity candle- do i need a holder for it or does the church usually have one???
ring pillow
flower girl basket
corsages for groomsmen
boquets for bridesmaids
anything else?

The church has 3 weddings that day and maybe some Quniceneras
- do i bring my own flowers for the alter or does the church usually have their own flowers fo the day???

reception-whats needed?
-cake cutter set
-guestbook w/ pen

MIL and dfi's Nana will make the food
-napkins
-forks
-cups
-dinner plates
-dessert plates
-serving untensils

wedding Favors
-whats the best way to give these out?
should i set them on a table with a tag with name or just pass them out?
There will be people there that like to grab whatever they can:confused3

centerpieces
- i;ve seen people grab these before the end of the night. How do i handle it? I was thinking of giving these to the people who helpped out or volunteered (paid for something or made a salad etc). in some way. I would stick a tag on it, this belongs to " " thank you for you help etc. Do i put a tag infront saying please do not remove until the end of the night? or just say the centerpieces are reserved.

this beging a budget wedding, i know i buy the wedding party gifts anyone else i need to buy a gift for? My dd is flowergirl and nephew ringbearer do i need to buy him something?

BTW- dfi and I have been together 11 years.
any tips welcomed

First of all, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

You might try visiting the knot or Martha Stewart weddings...both sites have various planning tools, checklists, and guides to help you figure out what you will need and how to keep it all in your budget.

If you really want to budget, you can probably eliminate the boutonierres for the groomsmen, buy single silk flowers (i.e. a rose or lily) for the bridesmaids and wrap them with ribbon (cheaper than a bouquet) and silk rose petals for the flower girl.

That depends on if someone is already buying flowers and leaving them there or if they plan on taking the arrangements with them. You can ask the church how it usually works for them. Some may suggest an arrangement for the unity candle, but again with a budget you might be able to eliminate that.

Do you have a location set? DJ or band? Do you have a place for guests to put gifts? What about tablecloths and centerpieces? Do you have a photographer? Videographer? Will you serve alcohol? Champagne toast?

I would have the favors set up at each place setting.

I'm not sure how you would handle this. The card idea sounds pretty good...put a little gift tag on it with someone's name and a short note saying "thanks for all your help" or something like that.

Since the flower girl and the ring bearer are a part of the weddig party, yes, they should receive gifts too. You might consider some small gift to your parents and each other as well, but that's up to you.

Again, I would highly recommend using the planning tools at the knot or Martha Stewart Weddings...

You should probably bring your own flowers, as I would imagine the people before you will be taking theirs to the reception hall with them. I would ask the church if you can use one of their holders for your unity candle, I would imagine they have plenty.

Wedding favors: You can either use them as escort cards (if you're doing assigned seating) or simply place one next to each place setting.

If people are grabby, I personally don't see anything wrong with putting a sticker on a centerpiece saying it is reserved for someone. It might not stop them from taking them, but it might make them think twice.

I believe Michaels has premaid bridal bouquets that are very inexpensive. I know they have boutinerres premaid for $5.00. For centerpieces you can never go wrong with candles and maybe sprinkle some rose petals down on the table. That is simple, elegant and inexpensive! You can have the place cards double as favors by getting cute place card holders or you can never go wrong with a tulle bag of candy! You can get pretty much everything at Michaels and they always have deals on their floral!

I'll call the church and ask

We have a D.J, we will have a gift table. We will have navy blue tablecloths(plastic ones) . Centerpieces i'm geting visuals of what i might do. Not sure if I can afford a Photographer. Hoping family take lots of pics. Dfi's uncle might be able to video tape for us. We will have a cash bar- we are on a budget of $2,200-2,500 for the entire wedding. Toast wil be with apple cider

I would have the favors set up at each place setting.

Just afraid people will take more than one or kids might grab them.

called the church today. Boy will is be a busy wedding day ceremony. Its a catholic wedding that will take place at 3:30pm on a sat. It should last 45 min. That gets me out by 4:45pm and less than 15 min to take pic and clean up because there is a sat evening Mass at 5pm-yikes.! My reception will start at 6pm at another location.

Before my ceremony there is another wedding at 2:00. I was told we can decorate at 2:30.

anyways i called and the main secretary wasnt their but the asst was. I asked what was needed. Tell me if this sounds right.....

I dont need a unity candle
i need the two coins which he forgot the English name for them.
I need a lasso to put over us when we are united????????
I need to boquets one for me to hold and one for the virgin Mary????

This church hold lots of Quniceneras and spanish weddings. Are these the norm for and English american tradition wedding?????

I also found out the music isnt included so i can pay the organist to come in or bring a cd and cd player. Anyone recommend a regular tradiotnal wedding CD for the church??? I'll have to call back on MOnday when the secretary is there

Is it possible that the church has a small chapel that you can use for your ceremony? (If you're not having too many people.) Then you might not be so rushed before or after. Also if this is not your regular church, is there perhaps another you could use that is not so busy?

I am not catholic, but have been to many catholic weddings and I have never seen anything involving ropes.

hmm..what is the lasso for?

I have seen some catholic weddings where they place flowers for the virgin mary. I think you can just do a single rose though for that. It doesnt have to be a bouquet.

I guess the lasso is placed over the teo couples to join them. I dont know but its sounds weird. I'm gonna call back on MOnday and talk to the main secretary.

Can someone please suggest a cd for the wedding ceremony music. TIA!

I've heard of the lasso thing but not seen it done. I thought they wrapped their hands with something at Catholic weddings...

We are having a Catholic wedding, full Mass. We are not doing the unity candle because technically its not really part of the Catholic Ceremony. Our priest said we could do it if we want, but its not really part of it. I have seen this done at the reception instead, or you can leave it out all together.

The hand-tying (hand-fastening) thing is Irish/Celtic I thought?

The only thing our church really mentioned we provide is two flower arrangements for the alter.

I'm not sure about the flowers to Mary, I will have to check my little wedding workbook our Priest gave us.

I haven't heard of the coins or the lasso, so maybe that is a cultural tradition, not a Catholic thing?

i'm thinking its more of a mexican/hispanic cultural thing. We are hispanic but dfi is 2nd genration here and i'm 1st generation so we arent to muuch into hispanic old customs.

can someone recommend a nice wedding CD with wedding march song. I dont want to go out and buy some and not like them. Thanks.

4 years at BigLots i found packs of navy blue bags 12 in a pk(.99) each. I bought 3 pks.(wish i bought 2 more pks) I knew these would come in handy if i ever got married-lol! I will use these for the favors. I will fold the top back and two holes in the front to =run white or sliver ribbon through. I might even add a label to the front with the double hearts, a poem(maybe) and our names and dates.I might be short on a few of these bags so i might bbuy some of the white lunch bags for unexpected quest, same idea run blue or sliver ribbon for bow
remember this is a budget wedding so this is what i plan to put in the bags
-tins hearts from MIchael's
-tea light candle with a label around the base
-some sliver wrapped hershey kisses
-some min candybars w/labels

anything else that will be budget friendly?

just got back from dollar tree and found some white rose pedals to spread on the tables. The tablecloths will be navy blue so i figured i'd go with white. Would the pedals look nice around the cake table?
