I was hoping some other Disney brides could share the themes that they have used for their weddings.

I am having trouble coming up with a theme for my wedding. I have already had several members in my family do a Cinderella theme, so I have decided not to do that one. I am getting married at the American Adventure pavilion and am having pastel colors.

do you have anything you like but just not sure how to do it....

Ive seen flowers as a theme

how themed do you want to get it??

DF and I are doing a Disney Fairytale theme. (Actually he has no clue and thinks there is no real theme.) I am doing everything subtle. Castle cake topper for Cinderella, Single rose on each place setting for Beauty and the Beast, and carmel apples for snow white. I am still thinking of how to incorperate the other disney fairytales.
Anyways, what pastel colors are you having? Are you wanting a Disney theme? I personally like the idea of having an international theme, since you are in AAR in the World Showcase. Naming the tables different countries. Your menu is unlimited. Just a thought.

I didn't want to get too themed, but I noticed the more I have been looking at different options I started picking all kinds of random things. I just wanted something that would help things flow together. For the colors I am doing more of a rainbow of pastels each of my bridesmaids is wearing a different color- pink, blue, purple, green.

I love the idea of doing Disney fairytales in general. I have already decided on the castle topper, so incorporating some of the other characters is also a great idea. :)

do you & you fdh have a hobby? have a favorite destination? favorite colors? go with the venue theme?

our ceremony was rose themed since we were married at the yc gazebo in the rose garden, i incorporated red (my fav color) & gold.

our reception was under the sea themed like our venue ariels. i used blue (dh's fav color) & silvers, seashells & we made our own centerpieces all under water themed like pirates cove.

Thank you for sharing all the suggestions, they are really helping me to sort out some of my ideas! I look forward to hearing what other people have done too.

Our theme is "Happily Ever After in Blue" so everything is subtle, in varying shades of blue.....castle light gobo, castle cake topper, castle table names, etc....and then what isn't "castle" themed is blue!

i thik this is a great thread. i am having the same problem. i love so much stuff and it is all random. then i thought i would do fall. but, it isnt me. i hope i hear some great ideas (i know i will)
do you think the planner can help with that

I'm in the same boat. I have no idea what to theme my wedding. Right now I'm so scared that it's just going to be a big jumble of things. Our colors are Red and Black. The reception is at Ariel's. We are having all italian food, my father was born and raised in italy so we thought it would be a nice touch plus italian food is yummy. So we are going to have the Lady and the Tramp centerpieces with 12 tealights on each table. Our table names are either going to be different words for love(ie: enchantment, Magic, Happiness) or different disney song lyrics (ie: A whole new world, Kiss the girl, When you wish upon a star). So I'm afraid that everything is going to clash in Ariels, but we LOVE ariels, and I don't wanna go with an under the sea theme, or change my colors...I'm being stubborn :rotfl:.

Originally, we were going to do an "Around the World" theme, but that was when we were going to have the reception at someplace in the World Showcase. I still really like this theme and will probably try to make it work for Ariel's. One idea I really liked with it was to name the tables after cities that were important to us (Kiev, Houston, New York, London, etc.).

I have been kicking around the idea of "Magically Escape" as well, around the world is still my first choice though.

Since it is in the Rotunda, why not have an American Dream theme? Name the tables after great American presidents or after American cities, or even US attractions (mt. rushmore, grand canyon, etc..) I think that it sounds very distinguished to be like "you're at the Roosevelt table, and you are at the Washington. " I think red, white & blue might be to over the top, but you could go with regal colors, like ivory and gold, or white and dark blue, even maroon. Just some suggestions.

We liked a little bit of everything and mushed everything together.

We're using it to personalize our unity candle, programs, invites, welcome bags . . . everything. Don't care if it looks silly it just makes us happy.

If you need help designing something let me know. I'd be happy to help.

I think that your venue has a natural theme that goes along with it...an American/historical theme. But, you don't have to be overly literal with that theme. You can be very tastful, and subtle with little touches of vintage looking Americana, like...lanterns, old fashioned ink dip pens, old fashioned ribbons, slightly subdued (antiqued looking) ribbons, old black and white photos, weathered looking display items like weather vanes, and old American flags...etc. Actually, I think this theme could be very interesting, and fun!

I didn't have a "theme." Heck, I didn't even have a “color palette.” I simply picked the things that I liked and tried not to get bogged down in the mire of the details. Some people thrive on that, but with a husband, two kids, and a demanding job, I simply had to draw the line somewhere and let the cards fall where they may. But if I was truly stumped on anything, I asked the FTW folks for advice. They never led me astray and always surprised me with the simplicity of their answers. The KISS thing was true – Keep It Simple, Stupid. ;)

As probably the oldest Fairy Tale Weddings bride here on the Dis, I want to pass along some of the wisdom that I’ve picked up along the way. Try not to get so mired in the details that you can’t see the forest for the trees. Definitely stop and smell the roses as often as you can. The months leading up to your event will fly by. Try to soak in as much of the excitement of the planning process as you can, but always remember that the most important thing is the love of your future spouse, your family, and your friends. If you put their needs first, the rest will fall into place. It won't matter if you have a “theme” or a “color palette” or any number of other things that the bridal magazines tell you are important. Follow your heart. It won't lead you astray.

That actually is a pretty good idea too because I work in politics, so that would be fitting. I definitely agree, the table names would be great!

I am starting to learn this fact pretty quickly. There have already been some things that have flown by and I want to make sure that I take time to enjoy each part.

It is good to know that other people have been struggling with this topic too. :grouphug:

That would be a great help. We are wanting to come up with a design that we can use on our welcome bags, programs, etc.
