I am in DESPERATE need of help. We are in the middle of booking our venue. We got the day, we got the venue but now we have to book for how many hours. We are doing the reception outside, hopefully at a local park assuming the weather is nice(park is being booked right now), then we have a small beach house for the reception(fits up to 80 people).

What is a typical wedding day schedule? or things to put into the equation when booking our wedding day.

We are getting married October 23/2011.

Congrats!

I would say it's difficult to pin down a schedule. Some ceremonies last 15 minutes - others last an hour. It all depends on what you want included. Religious readings, sand ceremony, unity candle ceremony, a special song played by a family member, personal vows, presentation of flowers to parents...list goes on and on.

You could split the difference and let's say the ceremony lasts 1/2 hour.

1) Ceremony: 30 Minutes
2) Cocktail Hour for Guests/Picture Time for You: 1 hour
3) Travel from Ceremony site to Reception: 30 - 45 minutes
4) Reception: 4 hours

I don't know - it's my best guess.

Thank you for your help! I didn't realize ceremonies were that short. It's going to be a very simple wedding, but I didnt realize they were to be short. Thank you so much, we are very excited!
