Friends of our family are cruising on the 9/11 Western and were to be married on the beach at CC. As you can probably guess, the bride is stressed out right now and doesn't know where to turn for answers.

Does anybody have experience with this kind of dilemma? (Maybe no stop at CC and another hurricane on the way) Is there anything I can tell her to ease her mind? Is there someplace else (on a beach) where they can be married?

I don't think anyone knows the extint of the damage to CC yet. It's probably still up in the air. I am sure the bride is stressed out.

So sorry to hear about that. I think what they could do is get married on the ship. When this happens they have a quick ceremony in the terminal and then a fancier one onboard the ship. I'm sure DCL will do all they can to make it special for them. Have them get in touch with who they have been working with at DCL and see what options they have.

I'm sure Disney will do the best they can to make your friend's wedding MAGICal, even if they can't go to CC. I'm sure there is a place on board that will be a beautiful setting for the ceremony.

Perhaps the best thing is for the Bride to start accepting now that she most likely won't have a beach wedding. Then, if by some miracle she does, it'll be that much more special.

We left port last September 14th for my daughter's wedding at Castaway Cay. This was during Hurricane Isabel.
I can't speak for what may come with Hurricane Ivan....but as far as Frances....by the time the Magic gets to Castaway Cay (I'm guessing around the 16th of Sept, Castaway Cay will be back to normal...minus a few trees, maybe.
There is no other beach for Disney to do their weddings on. The weddings at Castaway Cay aren't "on" the beach, anyway. They are held at the Head's Up Bar (which is shuttered closed during the ceremony, and you'd never know it was a bar) which has a large dock, all with railings around it. The ceremony is out on the dock, with the ship in the background.
If the ship doesn't dock at CC, the wedding would most likely be held at Palo or Sessions.
Either way, DCL's Fairytale Wedding co-ordinator should be contacting the bride very soon to update her. If not, then the bride should contact the coordinator.
When we were dodging Isabel, the ship went to Castaway Cay the first day of the cruise, instead of the last. We were called about 4 days prior to sailing to let us know the change of plans. It turned out to be a good thing, as we got the stress of the wedding over and done with, and could relax and have fun the rest of the cruise. But this is why DCL states in every piece of info they have about the weddings at sea, to not have a date pre-engraved on any items, as the date could change.
As far as we were concerned, Disney did just as beautiful job with the wedding as anyone possibly could have, anywhere. It was absolutely beautiful, and they took care of every detail. My daughter wouldn't change anything about it, and neither would we.
Your bride friend will have a marvelous wedding!

I agree to tell her now. Tell her to remember it is the person she is marrying that is important - not where it happens.

Best wishes to the bride :bride: and groom :groom:

Thank-you! I just knew you guys would have some good (and soothing :D ) words for me to say to the bride.

Hi, sweet Linda!!!

Lots of hugs for your to-be-wedded friend. The nerves can really get worked up tight in the days before a wedding, and there's a tendency to get really stressed out about little glitches in the plans.

I'm sure that anything you can do to help her relax and be flexible in her plans and to help her see the humor in the way fate and Mother Nature can mock our little arrangements will be appreciated.

As the others have said, trusting DCL to move the ceremony to on onboard location would be the best way to go. I'm sure she'll have a beautiful and memorable ceremony.

Kathy! What are you doing up so late???;) Miss you!

I did pass on as much encouragement to the bride as I could. I know once she is on board the ship, she will quickly forget all this weeks stresses. It's really, really hard to be stressed out on the Magic!:D (I think it may even be illegal.:teeth: )

JustmeStace,

I was on that sailing with you last year and remember the wedding. What a beautiful day it ended up being after all.

I hope this new bride has it go as well, although it very well may end up being on board. A wedding in Palo does sound lovely though.

Hey, TexasGirl...it was great weather and a good time, wasn't it?

I jumped the gun in my answer for the bride-to-be. It sounds like it will be a while before CC is ready for cruisers again.
But I'm guessing by now the bride has talked to her coordinator.
Any Disney wedding, anywhere, would be marvelous.

We were so impressed, DH & I are hoping to be able to do a vow renewal on the Christmas cruise. I hear they usually do those in Palo, which sounds superb....air conditioned, no wind, no humidity to make my hair fall flat as a pancake!

Boy do I have some advice. Get married still on the ship by the captain its great. I wouldnt have done it any other way now that I have done it. Ask for Bella Matias for a wedding coordinator she is the best. Ask to get married on the Palo. I just got married on Friday on the Wonder and it was even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined.
