Hey everyone. I really need some opinions from the experts. My fiance and I are getting married at WDW next August at 10:00 am and were hoping to take our 15 guests out to a nice lunch. Our guest will not have park passes so the restaurant will have to be outside of the parks.

Where can we go and have a nice meal at lunch time? We are all still going to be in our wedding attire but don't want to stand out completely. Do we have any options?

Thank you so much,

Jamie

The Grand Floridian Cafe would be my pick.

Light and airy, elegant, and generally not terribly crowded at lunch time.

Will I feel out of place in a wedding dress here? I looked at the menu and thought that it might be too informal.

Jamie

I don't think so--I think you'll be hard pressed to find anything more "formal" that's open for lunch. That restarant has a particularly elegant feel to it.

I agree! The GF cafe is often full of those that are dressed nicer. We went for the first time in may, and were all dressed up because we had family portraits made in Epcot that morning, and we didn't feel odd at all. There were a group of men in suits having lunch, several tables of ladies in hats enjoying their meal, etc. It's a nice, airy, comfy place. Plus the GF is about as formal as you can get! =)

I went through Deb's lists on www.allearsnet.com and there are very few places that serve lunch. The Concourse says that it does, that might be a bit dressier meal options if you are interested, though I can't vouch for it since i've never eaten there. Kona Cafe says it's open for lunch, at the Poly, that might be a more formal place! Again, haven't eaten there.

You could always head over to DTD and do Fultons or Portobello or Wolfgang Puck!

Good luck and congrats!

The concourse is OK, but the food at the Kona and GF Cafe is MUCH better.

The atmosphere at the Concourse and teh Kona are very casual.

The GF Cafe will be the most elegant lunch setting you'll be able to find.

I just looked at Portobello's menu. What do you think about this place? Is the food any good. Also, what do you think about FRESH at the Dolphin resort?

Thanks,

Jamie

If you're looking at DTD, Wolfgang Pucks would be my suggestion. We had a quiet lunch with excellent food and service there this past January.

Fresh might be a nice option for you...although not too convienent to the GF or wedding chapel...it is served buffet style, but you can also order off a menu if you prefer...the reason I thought it might be nice is it is very mediterranean elegant and has many side areas/rooms. I would call they might be willing to give you a private room for the party which would be nice. You might also check with the GF... they might also be willing to do a private meal for your group even though it is small....I assume most/all of the deluxes do catering if you would rather have a private function.

If you are marrying on a weekend I think they serve brunch until noon at most places....you might catch the brunch at O'Hana's...it is lovely.

how about the tea at the GF? a little more "elegant" if that's what you are looking for ( although some of the male guests might balk at first, i know they have more "manly" choices also)

I too think the tea would be a good choice. You would not feel out of place in a bridal gown at that elegant spot. They have heartier fare than pastries -- cheese plates, port, etc. However, I think the tea doesn't open until 2 pm so not sure if that's too late. If so, I think the Grand Floridian Cafe is a great choice as well.
