Wedding License By Mail

I work in a law firm so finding the notary wasnt hard.......:cool1:

But most banks do it and i think some post offices do as well.

Here is the basic rundown.......

You fill out the information page and then mail or fax it to the clerk

they send the liscence back to you and you have to have it notarized and you and the groom have to sign

then you mail it back

at that point they mail you the final copy of the lisence after the clerk has signed it

then you take it to your minister on the wedding day

we had jack day so after the ceremony he took it and mailed it back to the clerk for us and when we got home our marriage certificate was waiting for us!

It was about $90.00 and worth every penny, i am so glad i saw this because i wouldnt have done it any other way

all together it took about a month before we had the final docs to take to jack day on our wedding day

This is a good tip, I was looking at the site earlier where it's nearly $200 to have a company sort this for you as well!

Thank you so much for the clear and concise directions :) :) We have Jack Day too! So is the 60 day validity period from the date that you begin the process and fill out the first informational form or from the date of getting your actual clerk signed notarized license? Thanks again SO MUCH!!

Karen - I would go ahead and start the process now. From start to finish, it took a little more than a month to get everything done. And, it was legit. We used Rev. Day and there wasn't a problem with anything.

Just make sure you mail it back to Brevard Co, or let Rev. Day do it which is what we did. You marriage certificate won't be from Orange Co, but who cares when you save over $100....:wizard:

This thread has been out of circulation for awhile, but may be useful to some of you new DFTW brides.

Hey guys, Im from Ireland and getting married on April 26th this year. I thought all I had to do was go to the local courthouse in Orlando/ Kissimmee bring identifiction and fill out all the relevant forms and the license would be done there and then? Am I way off or am I right? Any info would be great....:confused3

yes, you can do it that way! Some brides just don't have time or don't want the hassle of going off-property, what with renting a car/getting a taxi and all.

Side note: For the mail-away license from Brevard County, if you have proof of at least four hours of marriage counseling with a religious official or counselor, you get a $32 discount on the license! :thumbsup2

I asked if that would apply to non-us residents - no go.

Oh poop! I know they do let out-of-state U.S. residents use it, though. I worked with someone there named Joyce Johns.

Do you have to live in another state to do the marriage license mail away? I live only an hour from Disney(I do live in a different County)and would like to do the mail away if possible b/c we are taking alot of time off from work as it is.TIA!!

We just finished our marriage license by mail and asked about the counseling. We have done counseling over the phone with our minister who lives in Jacksonville. Even though he is in Florida we would have had to physically been in the state while taking part in the counseling. I was so disappointed because I wanted to save the $32.

If you click on the link to my planning session you can see my most recent additions with pictures of us getting our license application notarized at the bank :woohoo:

That is really weird - we did our counseling in California with our minister, and he just wrote a letter on church letterhead certifying that we'd completed counseling. It seems like if your minister vouches for you, it shouldn't matter how you accomplished the counseling... :confused3

That's what I thought too, so I contacted the clerk directly and they said there is some stipulation in the legislation that restricts it to face-to-face contact within the State of Florida. Politicians

politicians is right vanessa...i don't know about anyone else, but it costs 3 times the amount of money to get a marriage license in fl than it does in tx. we were going to just have a civil ceremony here, but my mother almost had a heart attack when i suggested that as a way to save 60 bucks...

Just wanted to let you know we are in Tampa (1hour and 1/2) away from Disney and they said, the mail away option was only for non-florida resisdents, I called and complained, told them DF and I work M-F and there was no way we could come in and they would not budge.. So now I am not sure what to do -- have no more days I can take off.. :confused3
