Hi,

Has anyone bought wedding insurance for their Disney wedding? If so which company did you use?

I was talking to my boss about my wedding and he was telling me that I should definitely get wedding insurance. He told me a horror story about how the photographer didn’t show up to his wedding and how he sued and still never got his money back.

We are going to get everything through Disney. So I am not really afraid of getting screwed by any vendors. But I was still considering getting it for other unforeseen circumstances (hurricane keeps us from making it down there, or some sort of medical emergency). But what are people’s opinions?

Thanks,
-Ed

Since Disney allows to you to reschedule once within a year period with no issues, I wasn't worried about any major delays. When the volcano was erupting they moved a number of weddings for UK brides. Disney, I wasn't worried about, and the vendors I used had done so many other weddings there I knew they wouldn't skip out. There are a few horror stories on here, but generally that vendor wasn't used much and certainly never got used again. Everyone I had was in good communication with me up until the day, so I wasn't concerned and didn't feel insurance was worth it.

I didn't even know wedding insurance existed!

If you're planning on having your wedding during hurricane season and you feel that this may be a problem for you than buy it. DFTW will let you reschedule once within a year so you may not need it.

I used Traveler's for my wedding (not a Disney wedding). Also, Fireman's Fund offers it.

I would definitely investigate what it covers. It would likely cover your wedding if your venue burned down, but not the airfare if there would be an incident like that. (You'd need travel insurance for that).

Also, be sure to see what is covered. Death or illness of bride/groom/parents is covered, but typically not siblings, so just be sure to check.

Wedding insurance may not have helped your boss in this situation depending on policy. If anything, it would have paid back what he paid, but not made him whole as far as having the wedding photos restaged. Check with each vendor; they should be carrying their own insurance for things like this (errors and omissions insurance, for example).

Check your contract with each vendor for specifics, but many non-Disney vendors are not actually required to refund your money should you cancel due to illness or travel difficulties. They may reschedule if they have the date open, but if not, you may be out that deposit.

:woohoo:Wedding Insurance protects you and your most awaited wedlock day against these kind of unforeseen incidents. These are the things which is really out of your control, you have no control over it and you cannot stop these kind of mishaps because it is mishap. You have only a chance to pay a small one off payment to the insurance company and they will offer you the peace of mind to ensure it remains the happiest day of your life.
But here I want to discuss many kind of insurances like......:p :p
