I am having my WDW Intimate wedding in early December, is anyone really experienced with the holiday events. I'm wanting to buy tickets, but not sure how to buy. I've lived in Florida, and I might sound like a goon, but I have never been in December. For instance, MVMCP. Is that an all day event? Is that something where they close the park early to non-MVMCP ticket holders?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!

there's a seperate event ticket you buy for MVMCP and it happens after certain park hours on certain days. Last time we went I remember they kick everyone out of the park first and then slowly let the MVMCP ticket holders in. Can't remember what they do if you're already in the park. But they will give you a bracelet for the event. also the tickets sells out fast on most popular dates, so get them early once availble.

holiday season is no doubt busy, best suggestion for you is to BOOK your IM, NOW. get a date going and alternatives and call DFTW for date options. book your rooms if you need them.

good luck and congrates! :thumbsup2

*after reading again it sounded like you booked the DFTW aleady?..ignore parts of my msg then.

After going to Disney 14 times, twice during Christmas, you would think I should know what this means, but.... what is MVMCP??? ~Ev

Thanks and we are deciding on location tonight and booking tomorrow. I hope my day is still open as was 2 1/2 weeks ago.

MVMCP is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Ticket holders only event almost every night in December.

And what happens at the Very Merry Christmas Party? This sounds like fun, and our vow renewal is mid-December. The two times we've gone during the holidays were both last minute... so I'm sure we wouldn't have been able to get the tickets at that point. But this time I'm 10 months out, so there's hope! Thanks for any info! ~Ev :)

MVMCP is a private event at MK, and (as mentioned above) you need special tickets. I have read on other forums that you can stay in the park and get your bracelet if you were already there for the day. I think they move everyone to one side of the park, so they can clear the other guests without tickets. Officially, I think it starts around 6pm. From what I remember, you get hot chocolate and they take your photo. There was also falling artificial snow down Main Street. This was years ago, so things may have changed. The real perk is that you avoid huge crowds. Since the number of tickets sold is limited, there are no huge lines for rides. It is a cool experience if you and your guests have never been to it. They used to have it on only a few days in December, but last year, they had it on a lot of nights. I think there might also be a special fireworks show. I know that this is true for the halloween nights in October. I hope I haven't confused you. Good luck!

We have been to Disney World for the last two Decembers from about 10th-24th.

Mickey's Christmas Party is a special evening event (starts around 7pm) that takes place in the MK 3-4 nights a week (roughly) through this period that you need to buy tickets for - its well worth it - Christmas Wishes fireworks are just awesome. You can get tickets from usual places - many parties do seem to sell out so buying in advance is a must.

The parks are stunningly quiet until the last few days before Christmas (usually after the weekend before Xmas day). Weather has been pretty cold at times for the past two years - down near freezing at times at night and only in 50-low 60s in days.

DF and I had never been to WDW for the holiday season, so that was our Chirstmas present to eachother this past year. We loved it! So very much, we decided to push back our wedding from October to December just to include the holidays. The one thing I can say for sure, the weather flucuates. Drastically. The week we were there (Nov 29-Dec 4) was the coldest week they had seen in a long time.

Also, if you are planning on going at the beginning of the month, MVMCP is a great experience. The ticket is seperate from your daily park ticket. If you are going at the end of the month, I wouldn't purchase those tickets as the holiday fireworks and other events are incorporated into the daily events closer to Christmas...

Our wedding is Dec 21 at the WP, what date are you looking at?

Good luck!! pixiedust:

We went to mvmcp on 12/16 and boy was it cold that night!!

It is a great even (in my opion). We went around 6pm..traveling from epcot. And while they try and "herd" everyone in tomorrow, we took off for POC and Splash Mountain. We walked on everything....and yes we went on splash mountain..I don't even know how cold it was, but it was cold and I'm from Northern MA!! We were in the back of the car, so we wouldn't get wet..or as wet, but neither of us did.

Anyways...we hit no lines until we hit fantasy land. We waited about 15 minutes for dumbo and I think that was my only line the whole night!! I hadn't been on dumbo since I was a kid and I usually go at least 2x a year..as we were going around, the fireworks started..it was perfect.

We are planning on renewing our vows in 09 (10 years), and I want to have it in december (not 9/11 which is our anniversary). I want to be able to have all the decorations around me and to go to MVMCP w/all of my family that join us.

That sounds FANTASTIC! I wonder how I didn't know about it either of the times we went in December... We've gone once in early December and once in mid-December.

Our trip is planned for Dec 17-23 this time. When do you think tickets would go on sale? Where would I call or who would I contact? Wow, I'm excited just anticipating this!!! Even MORE to anticipate now! ~Ev

2005 info on mvmcp
http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/mvmcp.htm
http://allearsnet.com/tp/hol_mk.htm

price likely to be higher for 2006.

I think it's a great thing to do, the park's not over crowded, hot chocolate is yummy, cookie's ok. They're served through out the main street CS, I was drinking them by the 4 packs lol. you have better chance of catching some must do rides. but also try work your schedule around the parade to get a good view, it's pretty neat, and enjoy the fake snows lol...
it would be neat to go there after wedding or part of honeymoon :)

So when do tickets typically go on sale for this event? 6 months out? 3 months out? ~Ev :)

We bought our's in July of 2005 for December 4, 2005. Just keep checking www.disneyworld.com to see when the dates have been set. When they have, you can usually purchase tickets then....

I think you will love it. We had such a great time.....and the free cookies and hot cocoa doesn't hurt either.... it was absolutely yummy.... :hyper:

For the past few years they have been letting people with a ticket to MVMCP into the MK at 4:00 pm. We did this in 2004 - first week of December. We arrived at the turnstiles to MK about 3:45. We had to wait outside until 4:00. At 4:00 they let us all in. The park closes to regular guests at 6:00 and they start getting everyone out - but you do not have to leave if you have a ticket for the party. The park reopens at 7:00 for the party. I would recommend getting there as early as possible. Between 6:00 and 7:00 they try to keep everyone in Tomorrowland or Fantasyland. There is a show in Tomorrowland "Mickey's 'twas The Night Before Christmas" and the first show starts at either 6:30 or 6:45. It is great if you can catch this show. It is under 30 minutes long and by the time it is over you've already got one thing under your belt and the party is just starting. The Holiday Parade is great (usually shown twice per night) and if you watch it on Main Street you can see it snowing. There is also a special holiday version of Wishes - which started last year so we did not see it but it supposed to be wonderful. Hopefully we will get there this year. We are planning on going down the week after Thanksgiving.

I am also getting married this december, my wedding is on the 5th at the Yacht Club, im booking MVMCP as a thank you for all those attending!

That's a wonderful idea!! Maybe I can have my guests and us for there the night of!!! Thanks for the inspiration.

I was thinking about planning my wedding to coincide with the MVMCP. So that after our wedding we all could go and party. Would it be best to plan around 4 o'clock entering MK, or 6 o'clock?

Hey there:

My Intimate Wedding was last December 16th at the Wedding Pavilion! It was beautiful!
You will not regret doing your wedding at Christmas time. The Grand Floridian Resort was decorated so beautifully. Disney during Christmas time is so gorgeous!
Maybe I will see you when I am there for my Anniversary!
Good luck with planning!
Gabrielle

Is the restaurants open during the MVMCP? Would I be able to have a dinner for 20 at one?
