State Farm has traditionally had a (really cheesy but also helpful) wedding planner book that you can send away for.
Many department stores have little free things you can get when you register there (for instance I have a JC Penny mousepad that you can put a picture in).
Is that the kind of thing you mean?
If you think either of them would enjoy a message board...
I don't know if the site is any good now, but weddingchannel dot com was immensely helpful while planning our wedding, both the info side and the message board side. I started with theknot dot com, but their style of message board at the time was like one big running argument about hosted bars and other things that are traditional in some places but not in others. Got old!
Then once I moved on from weddingchannel, there's constantchatter, which was a site created by people sick of the changes on WC, and they still have a wedding-planning focus in their forums.
I learned about so many good budget wedding things from those message boards (though, like the budget board, in some ways it caused me to spend *more*).
Congrats to your family~
