I was wondering how/are you going to transport your dress to Disney? Did it get wrinkled? Did you stuff the dress to keep its shape? My itinerary just changed from a non-stop flight to Orlando to going through Atlanta airport . What a :headache:.

Thanks!

I shipped mine to Carolyn Allen's using FedEx. CA stored it for a week, delivered it to my room, steamed it, and picked it up again after the wedding to ship it back to my house. It was soooooooo easy! It cost $15 for the delivery/pickup, about $25 each way in shipping, and $80 or $100 to steam the dress, but it was some of the best money I spent on the wedding.

Most brides pay to have someone like CA come out and steam their dress when it gets to Orlando, so wrinkles don't really matter. Some buy a seat for their dress. Some try to get the flight attendants to put it in the closet up front. Some jam it in a space bag. I just didn't want to lug it around! :cutie:

My dress had a form in the top and it was in a dress bag. Luckily when we flew Delta I checked with the airline and their was a coat closet available. The gate attendant let us board early to store the dress and the flight attendants were great. The dress barely got wrinkled but I still had Carolyn Allen steam it the morning of the wedding.

Believe it or not, I had mine boxed and I checked it. I was a nervous wreck that it would get lost. I was planning on having it steamed when we arrived, but it ended up not needing any care at all! Dh carried his tux on the plane and it was a wrinkled mess when we got to the hotel!

(this was after the wedding, because we drove pre wedding) My wedding dress was a carry on. I asked about a coat rack, but it was a small plane that didn't have one. I just did a tri fold of the bag and put it in the overhead bin. It fit fine, and nothing happened to it during the flight.

I was a December Disney bride too. 12/9/01. After 9/11, travle was kind of crazy so I din't want to let my dress out of my sight. We flew US Air and put it in the closet in the front of the plane. When we got to the hotel I had it steamed. It was perfect.

THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA! I really want to do this! Did you have to call her months ahead of time?

I sent mine via FedEx a few days before we left so I had time to with the tracking number in case I had to find it. I sent it to Carolyn Allen's and she kept it for me and steamed it to get the wrinkles out. I have also carried it on the plane and stuffed it in an overhead. With the cost of checking bags, more people are doing carry on. There may not be a place for it. It cost me about $50 to ship it and a few other dresses. It was worth it not to have to worry with it.

If any of you bought a David's Bridal dress, they should be willing to steam it out for you at the David's here in Orlando. No guarantees, but I worked at one back home in NY and we would steam dresses on the spot all the time. As long as they're not too busy, they should be able to help. I would call them, however, to make double sure that it's not a problem.

Though, I suppose all of that is only possible if you're getting a car while you're here, as the store is up near the Mall at Millennia just south of Downtown Orlando.

I folded mine in half, put it in the overhead, and didn't even have to steam/iron anything. Really easy, although it was heavy carrying it through the airport by myself!

I just rolled mine up and put it in a normal carry-on suitcase. It took a little bit of smushing, but it was fine and it wasn't that wrinkled when we got there (we did have Carolyn Allen steam the dress anyway though).

I was able to space bag not only my dress, but also my veil, shoes, undergarments, crinoline, and jewellery to fit it into a rolling carryon. It was awesome!!!

FDH and I are going to fly to WDW. But my parents and his parents are probably going to caravan/carpool so I'm gonna have them transport my dress with them so it can either hang or lay flat.

I carried mine on and put it in a garment bag with his suit. It really wasn't wrinkled, however, dress steaming is included with the wedding package on the ship so I had them steam it anyway.

Has anyone had any experience flying Southwest with their dress? I'd really be more comfortable carrying mine on but I'm fearful that Southwest will give me issues. I'd like to be able to hang it in the attendants area if I can convince them. =P Maybe wearing my mouse ears will help! :rotfl:
