Wedding date difficulties

Okay, so I've seen the statistics that Disney hosts over 2300 weddings a year. Frankly, that scares me! I have to wait 5 more months until I can reserve the date. And we are trying to reserve the Saturday before Memorial Day in 2006 at 7:30pm. Am I crazy for thinking we could get married then?

So my question is, did you get your initial wedding date, time, and place that you asked for, or did you have to pick a different time slot? Also, how far in advance of the day did you reserve it?

Thanks in advance :flower: ,
Laura

We had an intimate wedding on a Tuesday so it wasn't a problem getting the exact location and time we wanted. Good luck with getting your date. Do you have a back up plan?

We did not go with our original date for our wedding, we had it one day earlier. We did this because we had specific locations we wanted for 3 parts of our events, and we had to be flexible in order to get all of them on the same date. The WP and Living Seas we had no trouble with but the UK Terrace (at that time you got the whole thing!) was booked on Saturday, 12/7 (1996), so we got married on 12/6. If we had been more flexible about Illuminations (other locations were available - we wanted UK) we would not have had an issue booking for our initial date. We knew about this at our sales meeting, which was 12/15/95, and left having said we want to go on 12/6. At 8 months out we got our contract and confirmation that our locations were all booked.

As for the time - this may have changed - but they used to do weddings (at the WP) on the even hours (2, 4, 6 etc). This was done to allow rehersals on the odd hours, and allow floral time to prepare for each event. Again, this is a long time ago and may have changed, but the time may not be available. Maybe a more recent bride can help? Funny, we actually picked an earlier time than our original idea - we thought 6, Lynn recommended 4 because we wanted dinner, dancing and then Illuminations. If we had started at 6, and Illuminations was at 9 that would not have been enough time. This also led to a very special part of our event, when Illuminations got postphoned until 10:30 that night, we were given special seats for the Candlelight Processional as part of our wedding event as they were concerned about the gap between the time reserved for the DJ (we had him from 5-8, assuming we would then go to the UK to have dessert by 8:30). Barbara Eden was the hostess and we got a special introduction and wishes from her, and then the rest of the crowd. A goosebumps moment that only FTW could deliver!

I believe that the WP times for Saturday and Sunday are 10, 12, 2:30, 5:00, and 7:30 but that the weekdays are still even hours (10,12,2,4,etc.)

We just signed our contract and sent in our deposit. We were afraid we were not going to get our date but we met with a SM about 1 week after the year out hit and it was still available. (hmm did that make sense?) We visited with Heidi on 10/28/04 and we put a tentative hold for our wedding 10/18/05 at the time. We were then contacted by Heidi this month and was able to sign the contract early. Apparently we were able to do our contract early because we got the WP time slot we wanted and Ariel's has a new policy on booking early also. Oh and we also got dessert party location we wanted. SO with that being said you can reserve or put your name in at a year out and if you have certaint locations in mind maybe you could book right then and there (depending on locations and times). OH wait the exact policy if I am not mistaken (correct me if I am wrong) You can put your name down a year out and you sign your contract 7 to 8 months prior, to CONFIRM the date. (before you sign the contract is when you keep your fingers crossed that no one else wants the exact times and locations) I'll send ya some pixie dust your way for your date and time!! Good luck!

Thanks for the info. ladies. I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed, I am thinking that I am probably picking the busiest day of the year for Disney...

Here's hoping I'm the only one that wants that time slot!!!
