I had a glass swans that formed a heart. We were married on the college campus we attended and one of the central things at the school was the main lake with the swans so it fit very well for us.
We used a picture of ourselves, that was taken at a formal, the weekend we got engaged! We put it in a plain plexglass frame that Mom, very simply, decorated with iridescent flowers.
I used the cake topper that had been on my grandparents cake. The are kewpie dolls kind of and had been preserved in a shadowbox in my grandmothers bedroom.
Our cakes were all on separate pedestals of varying heights. The tops were covered with fresh flowers and then there were more flowers around all the bases.
Everyone loved it and the cake was really good too. We also had cake boxes for a small piece to take home that had 2 hearts on the cover, our names and the date we got married.
My brother in law had a printing business in Manitoba and he had them printed by a company he knew as well as my napkins, match boxes and bookmarks.
They matched the invitations I made on my computer that he printed for me along with my reply cards and maps. All that cost me was $131...It was great. (he did not charge for the invitations or the response cards)
I love them and everyone thought I paid a fortune...
Beautiful cakes! When we got married, it was pretty hard to find clever toppers(before internet!) so we had the decorator put a pile of icing roses on top.
