Wedding attire in parks

I know that you are not allowed in any of the theme parks with wedding attire on, but I thought this was more for safety reasons, (so dresses don't get caught on rides, and brides don't trip in their high heels, that sort of thing). But my question is, what is actually considered "wedding attire" Can a man, "walk through" Epcot, with his Black pants on , white shirt, and carry his jacket. I don't see this being a safety hazard, especially when he is only walking through Epcot to get back to one of the resorts.

Also, what about the women who are wearing long dresses, but are not exactly wedding dresses. What kind of safety hazard is that?

Ok, I may be missing the point here, But I was just wondering because some people's idea of wedding attire may be different from the traditional wedding attire. Just Wondering!

Hi Merandab4,

The reason that I was told the people can't wear their wedding attire in the parks is because small children or just people in general can think that you are a princess, or character of some kind and you know how fast crowds can form around a character!!! That's why when you have a Dessert Party they give you a guide to lead you to and they try to keep you as incognito as possible. I had never heard about the safety reasons before but it makes sense.

Last year after my dinner at Yachtsmen Steakhouse I was walking with my husband to the International Gateway and I had a little girl come running up to me and ask me if I was Cinderella, I almost started crying, you should have seen the disappointment on her face when I had to tell her no.........she thought she had found Cinderella on her own and now could spend some time with her!!! I actually felt bad because I said no, plus her dad was standing right there and he thought I was Cinderella to (I actually think he was disappointed to)

HTH

I just recently got back from my honeymoon where we walked around the different resorts and took pictures of me and hubby in our attire. I had two girls walk up to me thinking I was a princess. I didn't have to tell them no because the one girl was too shy and the other girl realized it when she walked up to me.
I called before the honeymoon and was told I could not take pictures at the park unless I had a disney photographer with me and it was before park hours due to the fact that people think the bride is a princess.

When we checked out having our wedding at Disney we were going to have a Dessert Party at Epcot or MGM and was told we would be going "backstage" for everything that was at the park.

I do understand WHY people can not wear wedding attire into the parks, (at least the bride). But what about guests who will be dressed up, and the groom and grooms men. None of these people will be mistaken for princesses or prince charming, so I don't see why they can't walk through Epcot as a means to get back to their resort. Don't get me wrong, I do understand that this is not allowed, and I am not arguing it, I just want to know what is considered wedding attire if you are having a non traditional wedding. If a guy is wearing dress pant and a tie or vest, is he considered to be in his "wedding attire", and if a women is wearing a long dress, (but is not a cinderella gown) is this considered "wedding attire"

Meranda, I understand what you are saying. I think the groomsmen would be ok in dress pants and a tie/vest. Also the woman should be ok in long dresses as log as the dresses arent cinderella gowns. But, that is just my opinion. Your best bet would be to ask you EM. I hope it works out for you!

I hate to sound jaded, but I really think the reason you can't be dressed up in the park is so Disney can charge $750 to get photos inside the park. My mother was told it was not allowed b/c I would be mistaken for a princess and it would ruin my day. Personally it would make my day to be treated as a princess at Disney (my favorite place on earth) on my wedding day.

Nope I don't think you sound jaded at all it's a fair point and after all we are talking Disney here ;) They call the shots and we either pay up or we don't LOL it's as simple as that.

Meranda I see your point but I would say that yeah you can check with your EM but they're gonna give you the answer you may not want to hear.

Also the other thing to consider is although men in suits and women in long dresses may not be considered as Princes and Princesses they may be mistaken as Cast Members and therefore may have guests etc following them asking them questions etc etc if your guests don't mind that then fine but it could be confusing for guests. Especially in the parks where CM's are always dressed up.

Also you could find you get to the gates and the CM's may just refuse you entry and of course Disney always reserves the right of admission - whether that's right or wrong is of no matter really - Disney just are able to do what they want and I think it would be a shame to take any risks.

We actually found that all of our guests wanted to change into casual attire for the Illuminations as they didn't want to stay in the clothes they'd worn all day and danced in and it was quite warm too to walk around the park in their smart wedding attire. Only one of our BM's wanted to stay in her dress but we thought it would look odd in our pics if she was the only one so we asked all our wedding party to change and therefore only Paul and I stayed in our wedding attire.

Disney also does not want people in bridal attire (bridal, not formal) taking their vows inside the park commando-style.

Hi! This is my first post here, and I thought this topic was interesting because I was in WDW at the MK on July 4th and a bride and groom w/ the bride's grandmother and the best man were standing next to us watching the fireworks on Main Street. We later saw them again taking pictures (w/ their own cameras) by the castle and at the bus depot to go back to their (and my) hotel All Star Music. The bride was in a wedding gown w/ veil, bouquet, and train unbustled. Grandmother was in an evening gown and the guys were in tuxes. Any ideas???
