Ok so now we may move up the wedding to September for various reasons, which is only 18 months away compared to over 2 years - YAY! :yay: That all depends on me getting this new job so keep your fingers crossed!

Ok so I'm back on the boards after 2 weeks with strep throat - you don't know how hard it was to stay away but my fiance, DF I guess? uses the laptop/computer area for work so i couldn't go near it and get him sick too. I think i'm addicted to this boards now, hehe!

so here's some more questions for all of you, I literally went through the 13 pages of posts but can't seem to find the answer

1. Can you stay at the Swan & Dolphin resort if you have a DFTW intimate wedding?

2. With the Group programs/Magical Gatherings at Disney, what is the discount? Can you recieve a discount if your guest decide to stay at numerous hotels? like if some stay at boardwalk, some stay at a value and some stay at a moderate, will you still recieve a discount?

3. I know this is totally a personal thing, but I've only stayed off-site so I never been inside any resorts. In my opinion, the bed comforters and rooms aren't so pretty. I guess for a weddingey dressing room standard. They are really some really cool looking rooms, but not for wedding pictures. I guess because I'm thinking about pictures when the bride and bridesmaid are getting ready in the room, I would like the room to look nice inside, ya know? Maybe its my OCD coming out, hehe! so my question is...which one would be nicest for a wedding stay besides GF?

I looked at pics on Allears.net and I think contemporary looks really nice and they say its the largest square footage, which leads to my next question..

4. Will they let bridesmaid/family come to the room for pics on your wedding day for the getting ready pics?

Ok that's it for now, Thanks for your help everyone!

:rotfl: I think I can totally relate to the DIS addiction! My wedding was about 18 months ago and I'm still here!:teeth:

Glad you are feeling better!

I'll try to answer some of your questions.

1. For a DFTW, Disney requires a 4 night stay at a Disney owned and operated resort. Unfortunately, that does not include the Swan/Dolphin, but it does include DVC and the value resorts.

2. Not sure about the discount thing...

3. My personal favorite resort is the Boardwalk. I loved the decor and theming, but you are correct...it's a very personal thing. I know the Contemporary was just recently refurbished. You might check over on the Resorts Board for pics of other resort rooms or something.

4. I don't see why not. I don't think Disney has a policy on guests coming to your room for something like that...it's just the "too many guests staying over night" thing that could cause problems.

I hope that helps some!

I can't answer all your questions and you should keep in mind that things change at Disney all the time!

There are no discounts for rooms with Magical Gatherings. If you do a custom or wishes DFTW there are room discounts and they are dependent on time of year, number of rooms, and type of resort. If you do a custom/wishes wedding you get to set up room discounts at 3 hotels I believe.

Which resort is really personal preference. If you dig through the boards here there are loads of pics of people's rooms. GF is really the top dog. I wouldn't recommend the Contemporary personally. It lacks character for me. I've stayed there several times for business and I really don't care for it. I personally prefer Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter. I find them reasonable but also a very romantic atmosphere. French Quarter is where my wedding party will be staying because it has an intimate and romantic feel. Much of this boils down to what you are willing to spend! The great thing about Disney resorts is the variety. There is literally something for everyone. Had I been willing to spend a little more I may have chosen Animal Kingdom Lodge for it's uniqueness.

Wow, you guys get right to it!

Thanks! I knew I could count on you!

In response to the reponses - I thought for groups of 10 or more, you received some sort of group discount? I believe I read this some where - I was just wondering how much it was? I'll have to check allears....

1. Not sure about this one.

2. I was allowed to select three hotels to put on the information sent to my guests. We chose two deluxe and one moderate. Everyone ended up staying at the Yacht Club because the wedding was there, but you can choose where you would like to offer discounts.

3.4. I held my wedding at the Wedding Gazebo at the Yacht Club. We used a room in the convention center directly behind the hotel to get ready. There was a breakfast served (buffet style) and most all the ladies invited to the wedding stopped by to wish me good luck. It was great to spend time with them before the wedding. The guys had a hotel room converted into a lounge area (no beds...extra tables and chairs). Ask your FTWP if something like that can be done where ever you stay. There is also a VERY beautiful wood stair case at the Yacht Club that is great for pics!
