We'd rather be freezing at WDW than warm at home! LAH LAH's DEC '10 TR! *FINAL 1/18*

Oh how I love the Dapper Dans!! They look so handsome in their festive garb! Glad you were able to stop and listen and what a great picture!!!

Love the picture of you and the kids!! You guys are too cute!! The turkey leg picture is too funny, glad they enjoyed it!!!

NO SPLASH MOUNTAIN FOR ME, unless it is 90 outside, so you guys are braver than me!!!

We won't go to Disney if it's 90 outside so we would never ride it if we didn't just brave the chill! :rotfl: Now Kali is another story...we still haven't ridden that.

subbing! popcorn::

I was surprised with the weather last month too and even ended up buying some mickey socks and crocs in park one day because my toes were freezing! I must admit I did not mind the unplanned purchase... :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more! :wizard:

We were prepared for the cold, but there was some pretty cool things I wouldn't have minded buying!

I love the Dapper Dans festive attire! Very holiday-ish.

Your pictures are so cute! You are a cute family.

I love the water on your Mickey ears after your Splash ride. :rotfl2:

That's my favorite part of the picture. :cutie:

MSEP...HERE WE COME!

We were full and ready for more rides! Pirates of the Caribbean is always a winner and our boat stopped at my favorite scene! The part with the dog with the keys was the only thing I remembered of this ride growing up and it still remains my favorite.

The kids talked me into County Bear Jamboree. :headache: I can freely admit that I don't like this one. But the kids were gracious about the Hall of Presidents so I felt I must oblige. It wasn't as terrible as I remember it being from our last trip and listening to Michael giggle through the "Blood on the sadle" part made it all worth it!

The castle was lit when we came out and this was our first time seeing the castle in all it's Christmas glory. It.was.amazing! :lovestruc

Michael took the camera up close to the castle and took this next set of pictures. They were so artsy! I love them!

One of my favorites!
IMG_0339.JPG

We staked out our spots for Main Street Electrical Parade. It has been a good 20 years since I have seen this parade and I was excited to watch it with the kids!

IMG_0348.JPG

Back to Fantasyland for us, as we missed riding Winnie the Pooh earlier, and I realized we usually pass right over one of the most iconic parts of MK...DUMBO. Elsa and I hopped into an elephant and Michael chose the one behind us:

IMG_0407.JPG

IMG_0413.JPG

It was so pretty at night with all the lights!

Riding the Carousel was next up:

IMG_0415.JPG

Michael found Cinderella's horse:

IMG_0416.JPG

We rode Winnie the Pooh and as we were exiting the ride I heard what I could only assume were fireworks. That just couldn't be. Wishes wasn't for another hour?!! But there was no doubt as soon as we saw the sky. The kids LOVED seeing wishes from this point of view! We were directly beneath the fireworks and although we couldn't hear the music it was beautiful. But it was just fireworks. Wishes might be my most favorite thing at MK and a trip to WDW is incomplete without Wishes...and we missed it. :sad1: Our only other day at MK was also a MVMCP night so our chance to see it was over. Thankfully I am resilient and didn't die from this travesty!

I pulled myself together and figured a return walk to Tomorrowland was in order! We rode Buzz and Elsa won. She beat us all! She said she just kept turning her car in a circle and kept the button pressed down. So there you have it. The secret to winning is just not caring at all! :rotfl:

We had ridden Space Mountain earlier and I knew in my heart after riding it that it needed to be added to my list of un-ridables. I had my second back surgery in 2009 (discetomy and fusion) and knew a few of the WDW rides would be out. My Neurosurgeon banned me from the tea-cups, Thunder Mountain, and Dinosaur. Roller coasters with shoulder restraints are fine, but somehow I thought Space Mountain would be A-OK. I was wrong. It was too bumpy and too jarring. So I waited in the gift shop while Michael and Elsa rode. There's that independence again!

Surprisingly the kids wanted to ride the Speedway. They LOVED it! Elsa and I rode together and she was excited to do it all, that is until she realized she couldn't really reach the pedal. Try as she might we couldn't go faster than a snails pace with her controlling it all. :lmao: So I took over the pedal and we "sped" along and enjoyed the ride.

We rode Buzz one more time, and the kids talked me into Speedway again. I then realized it was 1 am and the park was closing. Holy cow! Where did the day go? We moseyed-on-over to Main Street and did a little bit of post card shopping. ;) We bought treats at the Main Street Bakery (yum) and walked out of the Magic Kingdom gates at 1:40 am.

It was a HUGE day and I accomplished another thing on my Disney Bucket List: Going one full day with out losing my patience with the kids while in the parks. I did it! :yay: I didn't raise my voice, or get irritated, or snap at Michael or Elsa. It was a great accomplishment to add to this wonderful 1st day!

Next Up: HAPPY FACES!

What a great first full day. :goodvibes

Michael did an excellent job with his Castle pictures, I love them.

You had a really long day and you accomplished a lot, always a good feeling at Disney!

What a fantastic first day! :goodvibes

Michael did great with the castle photos! :thumbsup2

Love those Dapper Dans!

It will be probably go down in history as one of the greatest days at Disney...ever! :rotfl: It was that good!

Michael did great with the castle photos! :thumbsup2

Love those Dapper Dans!

He came back and started talking about the photos he took and how he had seen some of another building with this perspective in a magazine and I was like "whaaaaat? where did you learn about photography perspectives?" :confused3

I love it!!! I love how you write too. Everything just flows so well.. Cant wait to read more!

:goodvibes great update full of info and pics, just what i love :lovestruc your children are beautiful :goodvibes potc is one of my favorites at mk. can't wait to read more:surfweb: laura

I love Michael's castle pictures! I always try to do artsy pictures and they end up looking terrible :confused3 He obviously has more talent than I!

Nice job keeping your patience!! That can be such and effort with kids (at home or at Disneyworld)! It sounds like you had a wonderful day.:dance3:

The pics of the castle are just beautiful. I think you have a budding photog on your hands! Say cheese!! :teeth:

I have been to WDW about 8 times. I have never set food on Dumbo. It is number 1 on our list for next trip!

HAPPY FACES!

Thankfully I downloaded that white noise app. For the 6 hours I slept, I slept hard. Michael and Elsa said they did too. I will have to take their word for it as I was out like a light. Too bad that light wasn't a wee bit longer.

We didn't make it to Hollywood Studios until 9:30am. I mean, who doesn't show up for rope drop? :confused3 I guess we don't when we go to bed after 2am.

We were excited to see that each of the parks had their own ginormous tree!

IMG_0447.JPG

These decorations kicked up their legs. Super cute:

IMG_0449.JPG

So, we're making our way down to the big hat and we see characters and I encourage the kids to wait in line and I just get grumpy stares back. I try again and it's not looking too good, so I get short with them and make them take the pics. You may not detect it, but the next series of pictures are full of "mom-made-us-stand-in-line-and-now-we-have-to-smile" smiles.

You would think that I, as the adult, would have recognized the situation for what it was; 1 tired family, prone to being very grumpy and irritated and try to alleviate the situation. Nope. I was too busy being tired and irritated.

We rode The Great Movie ride and our gansta' wasn't very good. He kept picking on Elsa and she wasn't too impressed. He was trying a bit too hard, but hey...it takes all kinds!

We were really just trudging along at this point and I suggested we go ride Toy Story (while I tried to figure out a way to salvage the day). Before we made it to TSM we happened upon One Man's Dream. I was pretty excited to see the expansion. The kids were not. We hastily peeked around and I grouched a bit as we left before seeing it all and then again as we waited in line for TSM. And then it hit me...let's just choose to be happy! So we took turns capturing each others "Happy Faces"

IMG_0469.JPG

IMG_0472.JPG

IMG_0473.JPG

IT WORKED! We decided to give each other more grace and not let our tired-ness get in the way of our family time. (laughing at our happy faces didn't hurt either)

We decided to eat an early lunch because sometimes food makes it all better:

My hamburger topped with shrimp that Michael already ate for me (me no likey sea-food):

IMG_0480.JPG

Michael's chicken sandwich:

IMG_0481.JPG

Elsa had some chicken fingers and fries:

IMG_0482.JPG

We were still physically dragging, but we had much better spirits! Indiana Jones was on our must do list and our early lunch couldn't have helped us time it better. We got right in and then next thing I know I am up on stage! :yay:

IMG_0497.JPG

I am the extremely short one in the middle

IMG_0520.JPG

They had to do the shortened version because of the rain, but I was just thankful it wasn't the coldest part of the week yet! Not-warm rain is sooooo much better than cold rain!

Off we went to the corner of the park with 2 of my favorite rides!

I love Michael's face in this one! ToT

IMG_0529.JPG

IMG_0533.JPG

We got some snacks and found a good spot for Block Party Bash (my favorite daytime parade...by far!!!)

Waiting for the parade:

Too cool for school:

This is the same army guy who singled me out last trip during the BPB. He has a very distinct voice and face...and he is a total ham!

I love Michael's castle pictures! I always try to do artsy pictures and they end up looking terrible :confused3 He obviously has more talent than I!

More than me too. I know what I want it to look like and I am sure that's what I am shooting and then when I review it I am always disappointed!

It was a magical, magical day! :lovestruc Dumbo is a short ride, but fun none-the-less!

Really enjoying your TR. You had a heck of a first day at MK. So I guess it never hit 76 degrees? Brrrrrrrrr!

Very cool that you got chosen for Indian Jones. The kids look like they are having a blast.

I am soooo enjoying your TR!! You have a beautiful family! I'm also a single mom of 3 and we had our 1st trip to Disney last summer, plus my nephew! We can't wait to return this summer!!

How cool that you got choosen for Indiana Jones...way to cool!!!! I think I might have to brave one day and raise my hand!!!

Hmmm...lunch looks yummy!!

Never have seen Block Party Bash and most likely the parade will change by the time I get back, however Pixar Pals sounds like a lot of fun!!!

You have to catch the BPB if you get the chance. :thumbsup2

I love those pictures of the castle. My daughter beat me every time we rode Buzz back in 2009. I am determined to beat her this year. My other must do this trip is to make it to at least one rope drop (couldn't get the kids up early to save my life in 09) and to stay for Wishes, Illuminations, Fantasia, Electric street parade, and whatever other parade I missed 2 years ago :).

Kudos to you for choosing to be happy and not letting the grumpies get the best of your day. Sometimes that is hard to do, especially on not enough sleep.

Great pictures of the Block Party Bash!

It's a bummer that the weather was not in your favor. You did the best thing - put a smile on your face and trudge ahead. I love that you "made" the kids take pictures with the characters. Even as adults, we get pictures. ;)

Great updates. I too love the picture of the water on the ears.

It never got warm enough for us to ride Splash Mountain. I haven't ridden Splash Mountain since 2006. Maybe next year.

I hate tired grumpy days, you don't want to be grumpy but you can't help it. You and your kids were awesome, "Choosing" to be happy.

We have never had the grumpies at Disney before...lack of sleep will do it to you everytime!

I didn't get in many of our character pics this year :(

I am a big "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" kind of girl but it was awfully hard this day. :rotfl:
