Delta has an online service where you can plug in your Frequent Flyer # and can check on your itineraries and can check on your seats.

Don't know what airline your flying, but if it's on Delta, its easy.

There is no one website that you can check on them all. It would help to know who you are flying on.

You can always just call your carrier and inquire.

We are flying US Air out of Pittsburgh.

I checked the US Air site, and I can't tell if there is a way to check seats on planes or not.

As a passenger with a booked flight, you might be able to.

Go to expedia.com. Plug in your itinery and make sure you pick your exact flights. Go to the purchase option and go through the ides of putting names in. Eventually, you'll get an option which will say goto seat pinpointer. YOu pick this option and can see how many seats arel eft unfilled on the flight. YOu don't have to enter any credit card information to get this far. After you've seen what you can to see, hit the cancel button!!

Try the American Express site at www.itn.net. Plug in the info to get to your flights, and click on "seat selection". This will take you to a view of the planes and seat available. If your flight is fully booked however you cannot get to this screen.

For security reasons, airlines are not supposed to tell you the actual loads on the planes. Sometimes you can call reservations, and they might say "it looks full", but it is THEIR interpretation.

As an airline employee, I can assure you that my version of FULL is different than reservations! If the airline cannot sell any more seats on that flight, it is obviously a full flight. However, just because you don't get your requested seat assignment, that doesn't necessarily mean the flight is full.

Loads on airplanes vary hourly. If one flight cancels- that means your "wide open" flight is now full!

The american Express website www.itn.net has the best one. Even it, though is not 100% accurate...not all people who have a ticket have an assigned seat and some seats (exit) are not assigned until at the airport.

Not sure if it still works, but when I wanted to check seats on one of our US Air flights I went to their website, went through all the stuff to book a seat, then the map of available seating would show up for me to select my seat. I could get an idea of how full the flight was from there. Then I just cancelled the transaction. I didn't have to put in a credit card number or anything.

When you go to an airlines web site, and you pull up the seating chart, keep in mind that many of the seats are "blocked" for their premier passengers, exit rows or bulkhead rows. They will show that they are not available, where as they may be when you check in!!:)
