Webshot Users

Not sure if there are very many other Webshot users around here but just wanted to give the heads up in case you haven't heard. I know I only found out by accident. According to their site:

Webshots has been redesigned and is now Smile by Webshots.
The current Webshots site is being replaced, and all photos and videos will be removed by November 15.

Ain't that just grand. NOT!

I have been a Premium membership subscriber since September 2007. I currently have over 9400 photos on their site that I now have to download back to my computer and find another place to upload so I will be able to share.

The thing that is distressing me most is that I have posted thousands of photos right here on the Disboard in trip reports, super threads, misc threads and various other places all over the internet. It appears that every link I have ever posted will now be broken. I would like to apologize in advance if you happen to run across any of them.

I am planning to make some attempts to replace the photos in my past trip reports but that alone seems like quite a daunting task. I am currently supposed to be in trip planning mode since we will be heading to Disneyland in just 31 days so quite frankly my heart really just isn't quite into pouring back over photo files and repairing the damage that is about to be done to all my poor links.

Anyway, just wanted to rant a little, share the info and see if there is anyone else out there in the same boat.

I hate, hate, hate the new Smile. I loved the ease of copying and linking pics to the Dis (cruise board) all the time. The new website is just confusing...and does make any sense or have directions. They closed their blog and every single post was about how people were unhappy with the new site.

I just downloaded all my 8,000 pics to my desktop yesterday. I have 2 weeks from that date to "claim" them (download the zipped file from the email) or they will be lost. They come in a zip files and I am going through each album to restore them on the computer. But, I have to try and figure out the dates and names of the albums because that info did not carry over. I have to look at the pics and figure when and where they are from.

I am also a Premium member for many years and feel ripped off with this new site that I WILL NOT BE USING going forward. Sorry..had to vent.
