Webinar guide question

I watched the 3/27 webinar and called to ask some questions. I had a guide call me to answer the questions and he asked if I wanted to purchase at that time. I thought guides stayed the same and if I added on it would be through my original guide. Webinar guide says, my original guide is still my guide but he would handle the add on. If I choose to add on should I call my original guide?

That depends, do you like your original guide? If you do, I would call them before doing anything else. If you aren't particularly fond of them (or even just indifferent toward them), then I'd finish with the Webinar one if they have been "nice" so far. From your end it technically shouldn't matter what guide did what internally; your contract will be the same either way.

My guess is that the commission split is different based on what guides does which part of the paperwork, but it could be if you even talk to two guides they have a fixed split. I really don't know internally how commissions, sales quotas, closing stats, etc. work inside DVC; maybe someone else will have a better idea.

We added points after the December webcast, and the web-based guide explained to me that for the webcasts, they have a special team that handles those transactions, but our normal guide remains our guide, and would be given a split of the commission on the sale. It worked just fine for us - and since then only our normal guide has contacted us, so it does seem that she has not been replaced by the lady who did our webcast transaction.

If you guide has gone above and beyond the service of selling you DVC points, take the effort to call them directly. We don't know how the webinar guides are paid, if they share with regualar guides, etc. But it's likely that your guide benefits more if you call them.

On the other hand, if you guide has just been your timeshare salesman, don't worry about it. Do whatever is easiest for you.

But it's likely that your guide benefits more if you call them.

According to my guide, who was not part of the december webcast team (added on), that is not the case. It does not matter who you call, they work as a team. The webcast team was easier to reach.

You might want to call and confirm your guide is still around...I recently found out my guide had retired and we received no notification. That could be the reason why the person you spoke with said they could handle the transaction for you. BTW, we're in Vancouver too!!! (Nice to see other DISers/DVC owners in the area.)

That's interesting- I had the opposite experience! I had a FL guide from my initial tour and for my first two add-ons. However, when I was doing paperwork I also spoke to CA based guide on a conference call my FL one did. Then I called CA at least once when I couldn't reach my guide for several days and an incentive was about to end. A few weeks after completing that add-on, CA called me and said "You current guide is retiring, since we've already spoken on several occasions, would it be OK for me to become your new guide?" Since she was always very friendly and prompt, I happily said yes and did my VWL add-on with her...
