Hi,

How is the weather @ WDW in early January (after the 1st)? Just figured out what to do in 2005. What do you guys think about the first week in August? Too Hot? too Crowded? I had a thought that we could book AKL consciarge for 3 days & still have time to move back in to school. What do you think? When would I have to book?

We have been down 3 times in early January in the last 6 years, anywhere from the 2nd to the 15th, and have found the weather to be unpredictable. One year it was freezing for most of the week and I am from Massachusetts so freezing is freezing, lol. Last year it was great, warm shorts and swimming weather. Again I am from Massachusetts, lol! Pixie dust to you.

I'd have to agree with winniedapooh. We were there Jan 4-11 of 2002 and froze. They still talk about how cold it was then. It also kind of depends on where you're from, but when it's cold in WDW, it's cold.

Hi,

Thanks for the replys. I live in NC!!!

I've been to WDW the very first week of January in 2000, 2001, and 2002 (like you, my school starts a little later than most). Although people say it's "unpredictable", I found the weather pretty predictable-predictably COLD! I remember going to AK 1/4/2001 wearing a jeans jumper (why did I pick that day not to wear long pants) and by the time I left, mid-morning, my thighs were as blue as my jeans. And yes, I also remember that early January, 2002. Anyone else go to the Enight on 1/3? I went on HM 4 times, not because I'm such a big fan, but at least it was inside! Did Buzz 3X for the same reason! Even passed up Splash Mountain, my most favorite ride, because I couldn't stand the thought of getting wet. But dress warm, bring hat and gloves, jacket, and remember-you're in WDW. At least I didn't have any wait for rides!

Another January '02 person - it was COLD! I would plan on it being pretty chilly, but variable between COLD and just warm enough for some swimming.

We had very good weather in Jan '03. I believe we were there the 24th through the 31st. It got into the upper-60s to low-70s every day. With the sun shining, we were in shorts every day.

However, the day before we arrived the high was in the 40s!!!

Now, many people will tell you "no matter what the temperature is, it will definitely be higher than the temp back home." And that was certainly true. But I don't spend hundreds on a Disney trip hoping for weather that's cold and in the 50s as opposed to cold and in the 20s. To me, cold is cold.

Like I said, we were very lucky. And we will probably visit in January again. But the first time we run into really crappy weather will probably be our last--at least for a few years. :)

As long as you're prepared for what Mother Nature throws at you, you can't beat the short lines (and low DVC points.)

I haven't gone yet in Jan, but am SOOOO looking forward to it!
I say bring on the cold! I can't wait to tour the parks without sweating!!:hyper:

OR, bring on the heat! I'll be glad to go swimming in January. :sunny:

No matter what, it's Disney World! It could do just about anything and I'll be grinning from ear to ear.

We have visited WDW in Jan for so many years i have lost count. Yes, it can be cold but it can be warm too. You really have to prepare for all kinds of weather. Jan 2003 was great! We visited TL several times and swam in the resort pool often. Even on warm days it starts out chilly in the morning. Bring gloves, hats and jackets, PLUS shorts, tank tops and bathing suits! You don't want to buy gloves in the parks! Expensive!

Hi,

Thanks guys! I just don't know what to do for 2005. I'll be starting a new school as a Junior in Late August 2004. My schedule isn't too flexible!!! Here's the time I have off:

October 4 days Fall break: Thursday through Sunday
Thanksgiving: Thursday through Sunday
Christmas: Starting the 2nd week of December (12th or so) & going until the 2nd week of January.
Spring Break: Late Feburary Early March somewhere in there
Easter: 4 days I think
We get out in early may like the 8th or so.

What about August??? Hot? Crowded? Any adivce would be helpful! We usually go in May but want to try a different time. just for 3 days. in 2005, will have 197 points coming.

August will be very hot and very humid. As for the crowds it will be extremely crowded beginning of august. Not sure about last two weeks of August. I have been to Disney in May and August. I think I prefer May...crowds not quite as bad and humidity and rain not as bad. Of course I always enjoy myself no matter when I go. I use fastpass and E ticket night whenever possible it really helps.:D

Very, very hot. I spent a summer there, and I swear, it was hotter on my last day - August 29th - than it was ALL summer! The coordinators had to keep giving the guards a break to jump in the creek to cool off.

Florida weather IS weird. We had a nice, cool day on Friday...and it's back to 80 degrees outside right now :( YUCK! I wish I had snow! :(
