Weather this past week?

I just returned from a week in WDW- our first ever trip. I was really nervous before we went about how hot and how crowded it would be based on all I had read on these DISboards prior to our trip. However, I was suprised when we arrived that it was not as bad as I expected. Yes, it was hot, but not unbearable. Yes, there were lots of people, but by using fast pass we got to ride everything we wanted to without much wait. Our longest lines were to meet characters, and those were probably 15-20 min for most. Did we just luck out, or were the crowds and heat less than normal this past week compared to a typical week in late June? Just wondering, because of course even though we just returned last night, I'm already trying to figure out when we can return! Being a teacher, summer and Christmas break are the only two times that will work for me. Any advice, particularly from others who were there this past week and have experience with typical crowds/weather would be appreciated.

It must be all in perspective and attitude! We were there last week too and found it to be extremely hot and humid every day. The evenings were better, though. At one point I was worried that my 1 year old was overheating because of the sun and we took refuge in a shop where I found a few other mom's/babies doing the same thing. The rain was also really harsh in the afternoons (puttting a crimp in our "return to the hotel to swim" plan). Last Tuesday, the rain/lightening was so wild...we stood near the babycare center under a covered walkway and watched lightening flash around the castle.

The crowds weren't bad though and we did manage to duck into indoor rides/attractions most of the time. We still had a great time and are planning on going back again next year in late May.

I definitely agree about the rain and lightening. We only ended up getting to swim once the whole week we were there because they kept shutting down the pool because of lightening. However, I didn't know if this was normal or out of the ordinary as this was our first time to Florida. However, when it rained we just put on our ponchos and kept going, and often it was a nice break in the heat for a bit.
