We leave next week for our long awaited 2 week Florida grand tour. It will be our first visit but I've travelled enough to know that just because clouds are all that show on the weather forecast doesn't mean there will be no sun for 14 days. Right? Right now it varies between 20% and 80% chances of showers and thundershowers the entire time.

But it's the ocean, right? So the weather changes frequently and the sun could peek through at times, right? Plus it still a long ways off . . .

We don't mind some rain and clouds and will be happy to be on vacation. But it would be really nice to get at least a little sunshine the sunshine state!

We are doing, WDW, Palm Beach and then a DCL to the Bahamas. First world problem, I know!

There is a high probablity that you are right. It shouldn't be cloudy for 2 weeks straight. Afterall, it is Florida! Once it gets closer, check the hourly forecast for the dates you will be there. Hopefully, you will see some hours with sunshine on the forecast. :beach:

I live in Orlando - you'll be arriving at a pretty nice time of year. The rainy season is pretty much over, any showers you run into should be fairly short-lived (barring a tropical system which is much less likely in late October/early November). You should see plenty of sunshine! Temperatures are relatively lower as is the humidity. Enjoy your visit!

Thank you to you both! That was my hope when booking late October - good weather and warm ocean water for swimming. Thank you!

Our pre-trip called for rain and thunderstroms the entire time...and while it did rain and thunderstrom each day, I also got a tan before we got on the ship. They would need an ark if it rained 24-7. We did try to schedule things like our airboat ride around the storm and we did change our plans around because one day, it really did rain the entire day, but other days it was scattered and nice.

Late October in Florida is beautiful. I bet your weather will be grand! Enjoy your travels!

Thank you! I don't mind scattered T storms and rain and clouds at all. Just want some sun here and there. And the sun's rays definitely can get through any clouds and that can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your perspective :) Good point about the ark - with Florida being so close to or at sealevel it wouldn't survive constant rain!

I live in south Palm Beach; my DH has been here since birth and always tells me, "If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes!":rotfl:

There's a real possibility that there will be rain as it has been off and on the past few weeks, but I wouldn't worry too much at 2 weeks out. The rain moves in and out so fast down here... I don't trust the forecast until day of.... and even then...

For example, right now, the forecast says cloudy and scattered storms, and it's a beautiful sunny day.... or at least for the next 10 minutes!

Have a wonderful trip!!!

One thing I have learned since moving here a year ago is that weather forecasts are useless here. It changes so fast here compared to where I lived in Massachusetts. And by fast I mean it can change in a matter of hours. Before I left for my run this morning the forecast showed 80% chance of thunderstorms from 4pm until 9pm. I just looked and now it's forecast to be partly cloudy with a 15% chance of rain.

Any Floridian will tell you not to bother looking at the forecast. I can't tell you how many times I've been sitting in a rainstorm and the weather app assures me there's a ZERO percent chance of rain. And for the past two weeks it has been promising that we will have weather in the low 80s if we just wait a few days. But those few days keep getting pushed back every day ;)
In October you can be almost certain that there will be some sun, most likely a lot of it. There's a reason I have to wear sunscreen all year here. Have a great trip!
