I have been glued to the weather channel popcorn::watching all this tropical activity going on, praying that it doesn't prevent us from going on our trip:confused:

In the event that we get to go and it just pours all week long, what are some tips for how to still enjoy the parks?

I've purchased three ponchos and packed umbrellas.

Do some rides close down when it's pouring?

I know that Orlando gets that every afternoon rain shower thingy, but looking at the forecast I think we're in for rain every day for the next couple of weeks.

i'd also like to know this... we fly out 17/9- and i'm glued to the accu weather app!!!!:surfweb:

Yes, if it rains heavily or there are thunderstorms in the area certain attractions will have to shut down.

Just wear your ponchos and carry on.

If you MUST bring umbrellas with you please be careful. They can be downright dangerous to other guests in crowds.

If there's a good chance that it will be raining a lot during your trip, I'd recommend that you bring a good-quality waterproof rain jacket (not just a poncho). Ponchos can be really hot when the weather is warm. They're good in a pinch when you just get occasional showers, but I prefer a rain jacket when it's really rainy.

If you do decide to go with a poncho instead, I'd recommend that you get a really good quality one from a sporting goods store (Target also carries them), not just a cheap poncho. The thin, cheap ponchos are like cling wrap when they're wet - I hate having them stick to my legs with every step I take, and have to keep peeling them off my wet legs. Yuck. The better-quality ponchos are made of stiffer material and don't cling so much.

And although some folks don't like it when people use umbrellas, if you use them responsibly, they really help. And by "responsibly" I mean that you're careful not to poke people with your umbrella! Fold them down and put them away when in crowded areas. I think umbrellas are great when it's really rainy; even with a poncho, the rain beats down on your head and face when it's really rainy.

before every trip I spray water proofing on our shoes, sure helps keep our feet dry.

Bring as many pairs of walking shoes that you have. We were prepared for rain during our trip in August, but not prepared for WDW drain system to not keep up. At times we were in water over our shoes!!

A large majority of rides are indoors and/or have covered entries. Bring your ponchos and appropriate clothing and have fun. I think I'd much rather be rained on than baked out!

It rained every day that we went but luckily the showers didn't last long. That was the best time to be at the park as well. We spent hours one morning in the heat trying to do stuff, and later when we went back in the evening it was sprinkling and the park and in 2 hours we were able to ride more rides and cover more of the park than we had all morning. For some reason people don't like to be at the park in the rain. If I were you I would hope for some drizzles, that worked great in our favor. When it does pour you can just relax in the shops or take in a show.

We were there when it rained alot. We wore our ponchos & had a blast! The yellow Disney Ponchos all blended together & it was hard to pick out our family members. Some people wrote names on them. Some people decide not to go on the rides & go shopping. So... the lines were very short for rides. We loved it & rode Tower of Terror three times in a row! Enjoy. You can make the best of it:):umbrella:
