Hi All, what does scattered showers look like in Orlando? Is it usually heavy showers that only last for a short time, or light showers for a long time? Do they last through out the day or just at certain times of day?

Any thoughts about the weather would be great.

My experience has always been brief showers then it clears up as if it had never rained. Check weather.com as they show a break down by hour.
Have an awesome trip!!!

When we went years ago it would literally be sunny and then start raining out of nowhere. It would last 5 minutes or so and then disappear as quickly as it came.

I would say scatter showers would be the kind that come down hard and leave in 5 mintues or so. I have been there for an all day rain too, and it was a bummer, but I think those aren't very often in Florida.

Even if it's only a 10% chance of rain, if you're under the 10%, it's 100%.

According to the tourist bureau, even if the sun comes out for 5 minutes, it's a sunny day.

Scattered showers means they can pop up anywhere, anytime and anyplace. They are almost always heavy and can last from a couple of minutes to hours. The weathermen do not predict them and are as surpirsed as the rest of us when they occur.

I've lived in Florida for 22 years and still can't get used to the weather. Even without storms, the rain is forever knocking out my power. One second without power and I have 20 clocks to reset. Who needs hobbies when you can reset clocks?

Should you have a really rainy day I recommend going to MGM as there are lots of indoor activities. :beach:

Thank you all for your responses, we are leaving in 3 days and looking forward to it.

If they're calling for scattered showers you can look for them mostly in the afternoons. They can last from a few minutes to hours. It can be raining in one area and not 1/2 mile down the road. Very hard to predict though.

The one thing you HAVE to be very cognizant of, is the lightning. People struck by lightning is very common in the state of Florida.

One year i went and got the bigrain shower and the nthe sun came out a few minutes later, but we couldn't ride anyhitng, because Disney's power was out! But it came back on very shortly! :thumbsup2

Well, as a person that has yet to be tagged, I think you've done pretty well for yourself in that department! :goodvibes

I hear you. Trust me it happens when you least expect it.

However, I've been on threads where everyone but me has gotten tagged. That's where that comment comes from. Trust me, the TF knows that I feel cloaked in invisible shield mode. Everyone received tags, but me. I sometimes feel like chopped liver and trust me, I hate chopped liver. But I still like the TF :teeth:

In the deep south our rain showers will normally hit in the late afternoon. Normally it gets REALLY hot and humid and it's very uncomfortable, like in a steam shower, and the rains won't last long but do include thunder and lightening. . . normally if it's scattered showers it's under 15 minutes of rain. After the rain leaves it's much less humid and a nice temp.

What does being tagged mean ??

The area under your user name that says "earning my ears" can get tagged by the tag fairy (lovingly called the TF). If they see something that they like in your post, they put it in this spot under your username and colorize it. Some people are obsessed with tags, but most of us use it to recognize other posters. The TF can strike at any time, but does not like to be asked to give tags. There are TF etiquette rules. They find you, you don't find or annoy them. Fussy little buggers.

Very interesting, thanks for the info, i'm fairly new here but am very excited, we are leaving for our first family WDW vacation in less than 2 days.

thanks

So that's what a tag is...I thought it was the little turkey icon or Thanksgiving pic that gets PM'ed to you...learning things every day!! :woohoo:
