We have been to WDW in the rain many times but Dland is much colder and there is good chance of rain on Thursday...our first day in the park.

Any tips for good areas to go and shows to see when it rains would be great.

Any locals....what to wear would help too. We are from Phoenix and are wimpy in cold.
So I am planning layers, hoodies, and our WDW umbrellas.

Hopefully it just sprinkles here and there:goodvibes

Sounds like you've got the packing stuff covered well. As far as what park to hit, I'd stick with DL if it rains hard. Things are closer together in DL so its not as far between attractions/gift shops. In CA right now the construction means you'll walk a long way before you even get to an attraction.

If you plan for cold/cool nights and warm days you should be fine. One thing I have found is that if you are standing in the sun you'll be warm and if you are in the shade will feel cold. Enjoy though, rain keeps people away and the parks should be quiet if it rains all day.

Pack shoes that you are okay with getting wet (we wear rubber slippers on rainy days, crocs would work just as well). Athletic shoes that are soggy are no fun. I'd recommend buying DL panchos when you get there. We've had ours for several years and they're pretty tough and keep you drier than umbrellas. Well worth $7 IMHO. At least over the $1 ones at Walmart. I've seen people with SeaWorld ones that looked nice and thick with good coverage too. Just toss them in a ziploc in your suitcase after you dry them and then you can take them out every trip, esp if you like rainy season like we do.
My favorite thing when it rained this year was they cancelled Jedi training academy and we got to take pics with Darth Vadar, stormtroopers, and Darth Maul!

I actually think I would head to DCA if it were really raining... I could spend hours inside alternating between Animation Academy, Sorcerer's Workshop, and Turtle Talk. Plus, Aladdin is just a few steps away; that would eat up another hour of rainy weather. Then, when it's sunshine and rainbows, you can go check out the rest of the outdoorsy stuff.

** I really love Animation Academy. My DH and I once spent 3 hours just drawing all afternoon while our DD (then a newborn) slept in my sling wrap. :cloud9:

We are from Canada and we even found the rainy days cold. We were NOT prepared at all and found it pretty chilly so I would suggest hoodies, long sleeved shirts and as one poster said, get the ponchos. They were our best investments there. They are not flattering at all :rotfl: but they kept us dry. So much easier than carrying an umbrella around, especially if you are going in and out of shops and attractions.

Have fun!!

Thanks everyone. We are very familiar with the Disney Ponchos...I have not had to buy them for WDW in years.....so I don't have them to bring...but we will definately buy there.

We will have my DSis and 3 yr old neice with us and we won't be able to do the adult stuff as much....like the animation academy (which we love at WDW):goodvibes

We have been to Disneyland in the rain its just been a long long time. If its pouring we will go back to the hotel and hang around the fireplace and drink hot chocolate

I am just hoping the rain goes away:wizard:

I just checked Accuweather and if I was looking correctly, I didn't see any rain for next week? So I wouldn't consider that a sure thing. If you mean this week, it says showers possible Thursday, but that's definitely subject to change. A few days ago it said rain possible Sunday 11/27--the forecasts seem to be shifting back and forth.

If it looked like it would rain very hard for one day and/or somewhat hard for 2+ days of your trip, I'd probably invest in some waterproof shoes. I went when it was very rainy for 2 days and had water-resistant shoes (not nearly enough to keep my socks dry). If not for that little problem I would've had a perfect time!

But for a chance of rain on one day, I wouldn't worry so much about the water (though having 2 pairs of shoes isn't a bad idea regardless).

the forecast for Thursday says cloudy with 20% chance of rain:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

that is way better than 70% chance of rain...

2 more days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

A 20% chance of rain around Southern CA usually means just clouds. I'm actually surprised this weekend's rain happened. It never comes when it's predicted. :rotfl:

A couple of years ago we slopped around DL in pouring cold rain with 3 small children, and it wasn't fun at all. We all had ponchos, but that didn't begin to handle the problem. Everyone's feet were soaked, as were all our pants legs.

If I had it to do over again I would have investing in rain pants and boots, at least for all the kids, in addition to the ponchos. That would have kept everyone warm and dry and happily moving along.

We just got back last night from our trip. The one thing I wish we would have all packed was a warm coat :scared1: it was cold even during the day, (and we're from Washington State), we thought sweatshirts would have been fine but we were wrong. Enjoy all the beautiful holiday decorations :santa:

We don't own coats:laughing: seriously...we don't.

so we are packing warm lined hoodies and layering our clothes. we know its always chilly there in the am and evening.
