Weather in May

Apologies if this isn't the correct forum for this...I couldn't find a "good" one.

My wife and I are heading to Disney from May 1 to 8 (we're staying at Coronado Springs, not that it pertains to myquestion) and are looking forward to it.

We did some research on best times to head to the area (in the past, we've gone in June, which was a bit busy and hot, but not terrible in both regards and early November, which was not busy but a bit too cold for us). We saw the crowds in May are pretty manageable and the weather is generally not too cold but not too hot.

However (and I know this obviously can't be predicted accurately), we were told by two separate familes just recently that they've gone in May and it has rained most of the day the entire week they were there. I'm now a bit freaked at the thought of being rained upon extensively our entire vacation, so I wanted to reach out and see what others have experienced in that first week of May, or May in general. We're used to the freak thunderstorms, but I'm hoping we're not in for a washout. We're confirmed and paid for this week regardless, but I'd love to have a little peace of mind.

In fact, just tell me it'll be alright regardless of what you think.

I will tell you that when we went mid-late May last year, it was HOT (as in 96 degrees in the middle of the day)! Unseasonably hot, but hey it didn't rain at all. So our experience was a little unusual compared to what is predicted on average. The crowds were very manageable too.

we have gone to Disney on the first week of May for the past 5 years in a row and always have had beautiful weather. Its been sunny, high 80s, no humidity, perfect park, beach and swimming weather!! we just love it, its our fav time of year...and yes we shall be there this year again first week at CBR! Dont worry , you will have a wonderful time, crowd levels are low too, eveything is walk on or 5 - 10 mins max wait time usually. We never make ADRs we always manage to walk in and get a table. Have a wonderful vacation!

We've been in May 3 times, and twice the week that you are going. It never rained once! It was very warm though, high 80s everyday. The crowds that week are really low so you won't have to deal with long lines in the park. Make sure you check out the flower and garden festival at Epcot. One of our favorite parts of our May trips

I believe the later you go in May the more likely you are to have rain. We went the last week of May 2009 and it rained almost every day for about 2 hours in the afternoon. It wasn't horrible. Actually, it helped to clear out the parks so there were shorter lines after the rain was done

I think you will be fine going the first week of May. From what others say, the weather should be nice with low crowds! Have a fun time!

We've gone the second week in May for the last three years and haven't hit rain, but it's been unbelievably HOT. If it's unseasonable, we're unlucky, because we've hit it three years in a row! It's been over 90. But the week before us had lots of rain last year, not just rain but monsoon-like rain! We've switched our trip this year to April 19-25, trying to get slightly cooler weather but still reasonable crowds.

Thanks for the replies, all. I know these notes about past weather mean little to nothing as this type of stuff is unpredictable, but it does make me feel better!

We've gone in the beginning of May the past several years--never had rain except last year. Last May we were there from the 5th thru the 14th, and we had one decent sized thunderstorm in an afternoon. It happened to be while we were taking an afternoon break and were napping... so we didn't miss anything. We're going again this May from the 3rd to the 9th in hopes of good weather.

We have been there the last 3 Mays. I'ts been hot and dry. The nights are perfect, and morining are good. We were there last year May 8-25. We had 2 days where it rained for maybe an hour. CSR has a great pool. Plan on some pool time in the afternoon.

We went during the first week of May last year and absolutely loved it! The weather was perfect-warm enough to swim but not hot. We walked on to a lot of "big" rides with little or no wait, including space mountain!

Go to weather underground online. You can pull up historical data going back a number of years. It'll show you temperature, precipitation, humidity, and other fun things.

You can hop on a plane to Phoenix. Thats the weather were having right now. It might be too much to ask of Orlando especially the no humidity part. Don't worry you will be fine. May is a great month.

I'm a "deep-south" girl, and trust me (not to rain on your parade) but it can be rainy, hot , muggy or all the above It varies from year to year, but it's already in the 80's, so I would expect mid 80's to mid 90's and showers a lot of days. We just learn to go with the flow, and expect the unexpected Have a good trip no matter what the weather throws at ya!!
