Well, we are headed to see the Mouse this Saturday, Aug. 16 for a surprise 40th birthday trip for my hubby. It has been raining and unbearably muggy in Maine for nearly 3 weeks - I need some sunshine so bad!! I've checked the forecast for Orlando and it's looking like...you guessed it...more rain!!!!!! ugh!!!!! Has it been raining for three weeks down there too? Does it usually rain all day or just periodic thunder storms. I hate those yellow raincoats so much.:(

well the answer is both yes and no. It has rained all day every day for weeks until just about three days ago. I live just behind MK and we have had sunshine most of those three days. Unfortunately, the weatherman says rain is on the way yet again.

Cloud cover building up. temps in high 80's winds 15-20 and gusting. Litlle lightning bolts are coming out of the clouds for the extended forecast for the next 6 days. :(
Sorry:(

Dont be sad! You will still have a great time!
I am bringing the compact fold up umbrellas instead of wearing the poncho because I cant stand wearing those things in the heat! And they dont cover your head anyway!

We'll be departing in nine days, and while I'm worried we'll be wet a lot of the time, we're not doing ponchos OR umbrellas.

Our plan if it rains?

Dance in the puddles and enjoy being soaked! :D

It'll be just like what we used to do when we were kids.

Jon

I like Jon's plan! :) Just bring some extra shoes. If the humidity is anything like it's been here in Maine, those soggy sneakers will take many days to try out!

The compact umbrella is a good tip. Those yellow ponchos get so hot.

Have fun! :)

We just came back and yes it rained all day 3 of our 5 day stay! We actually liked it better, less crowds and less humidity!

Rain didn't keep us away!

We were at WDW and Vero Beach July 31 - Aug 10 and it rained every day...and some days ALL day. We got drenched at MGM one day and the storms were closing pools.

I was also there for a long weekend in June and it rained all day every day that we were there. It's just NOT a typical Florida weather pattern this year at all!!!

I just had weather channel on, calling for a tropical storm in Florida starting tomorrow. They are not sure how long it will last. Looks like alot of rain coming. Hopefully it will be fast moving.

Just got back today. Hope this won't put a damper on your plans, but plan on rain. The forecast was for Th. stms. this weekend and beyond. It rained for our trip that afternoon, and well into the evening while we were in MGM,we had to wear our ponchos, which were hot and sticky. The rest of the days, were sunny till around 4,then came the storms. Sat. was all day rain, that was horrible. Rainy morning on Sun. making way for some sun in the afternoon.Mon. hazy sun off and on,Tues. we lucked out, mostly SUNNY ( although forecast was for th.stms.) Wed. was also sunny when we left for the airport, but rain was in the long range forecast, sorry!
Make the most out of it,like maybe, singing in the rain.
Next year I'd like to avoid the ponchos, and buy the zip up hooded rain jackets instead, they seemed easier to put on and off(that's what I didn't like about the ponchos) These are things you don't have to think about, till it rains almost everyday.

Didn't see much of a diffence with the crowds because of the rain,it was a very crowded 10 days, at the parks, DDM and the outlet malls. Florida schools are back in school now, so maybe the crowds will be lesser for you.

If the sun is out, don't waist time, lather up, grab that lounge chair and enjoy, for you never know how long you'll have.
Have a good trip and have fun you're in DISNEY!:)

We just returned Saturday from 8 days in Disney,It rained 5 days out of 8, not just 20 minute showers. Some days it rained for 6 hrs straight. We were caught in a storm in MK and had to get off the mk railroad train due to severe lightning. It was very crowded there also. This was our 1st time going in August, the days it didn't rain, it was so hot.

We flew home a week ago today on Aug. 20th and yes, it did rain - a LOT. We were trapped at MGM for over an hour standing under an overhang at Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It was awful; I've never seen thunder and lightning like that before. These were not those fast moving 20 minute storms either - they lasted 4-5 hours each day except for one that we were there. We still had a great time and love our resort - POR but we will not plan an August trip again.
