Weather! For Christmas and New Year!

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone who is on site now or recently got back could help with my packing? I see that we are in for a wet experience when we go on the 28th - we are there for a week. I just wondered if you could tell me - how wet!? I ALWAYS overplan for the cold after the winter of 2010 when it was like this...

and we had to resort to alot of this to keep warm

But I'm not really prepared for the wet - should I be taking wellies etc??

definitely take completely waterproof footwear and a spare set for you all - we had 3 wet days out of 4 this week, and it was wet wet wet - i don't think it stopped raining at all on Wednesday, and that means lots of puddles as you are walking around the parks. Waterproof trousers would also be a good idea, for when you're sitting on rides etc.

Tbh I was prepared to come on here and say what rain as for the second day running it is warm (12°) and dry ..... but.... to prove me wrong it has just started and it's pelting it down

Change of shoes are the most important and I'm seeing a few people at the bus stop across the road in fancy wellys which isn't a bad idea.

Looking at when you coming I'm not seeing rain on the weather forecast but a real drop in temperatures so be prepared for that as well

Thanks for that too Carrie Wellies are about to be packed, plus soon to be brought waterproof trousers, plus snowsuits - I guess it cant hurt to be prepared for everything! At least we are driving!!

You can't predict the weather.
Rain is rain, that's how simple it is.
And if the prediction for today is rain, and for the 28th also, doesn't mean it's both the same.
It can be rainy today, and be absolutely pouring. And it can be rainy tomorrow, and be just a few small drops.

If it says it'll be rainy, take rain proof clothes with you. Doesn't seem that hard to me?

I've had moments in February for example where it was too cold to do anything, moments where it was pretty warm but rainy and moments where it was sunny.
That's the weather in Europe, you can't predict it. You can't go off earlier years.

There is also a huge difference in rain forecasts from mizzle to light showers to heavy constant showers to torrential rain and so on.

How on earth is OP not meant to take offence at such a rude reply?!?

I think it's more than "dumb" when people think prefacing a rude comment with the words "no offence" gives them an excuse to be downright mean.

No, we can't predict the weather but there are enough frequent visitors, and some helpful locals, on this board to be able to offer plenty of advice.

OP. Id say pack layers and plenty of waterproofs. You'll be fine. X

We got here last night and would describe today's weather as changeable

Started off overcast and dry looking out of our room window



To glorious sunshine



To rain



And now it's clear again



It's also not too cold. We've been at this time of year and almost frozen. It's not too bad at the moment at least

I'm taking waterproof, thermal boots for our trip by the way Even with thermal socks on, my feet get cold in wellies.

Been the best time ever. Been loads in the past but this is the first time we've been in years and first time we've taken our son.
Not had much (if any) rain the last two days either. It's chilly and overcast but so far so good.

We took our soon to Florida at 9 months but I doubt he remembers any of it. He remembers our Disney cruise from the summer though and will definitely remember this!

Hey! I haven't been at DLP this year, but I was there this time last year.

From my personal experience, all I can say is, LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS!

As well as needing waterproofs for occasional rain, it was absolutely FREEZING, I practically wore my entire suitcase every day! On a typical day I wore a long-sleeved top, a thin jumper, a thick jumper, a big hoodie AND a waterproof jacket (along with two pairs of jeans!) and hat, scarf, ear-muffs, gloves, etc. too

So be prepared to layer up too
