We are leaving for WDW Wednesday and instead of getting excited I'm getting pretty depressed looking at the forecast. We only have Wed-Sat for park days and all days except Wednesday have 90-100% chance of thunderstorms.

Seems like more than just passing storms. Any advice / silver linings?

Advice? Sure, stop looking at weather forecasts - they are all wrong.

Strategy? Go ahead and enjoy your vacation. If it does rain, it will most likely be just for 30 minutes (or less) after which you can continue your plans.

Seriously, the forecast for this time of year in Orlando is always for afternoon thunderstorms. And they are just passing storms. And most days you will get one of those that moves through quickly. Its just a fact of life here in central FL. :beach:

Central Florida + summer = chance of thunderstorms every day.

Don't panic.

We were there last week and most days had those afternoon thunderstorms -some were there and gone so quickly that if it weren't for the wet pavement as we left a ride, we'd never have known. That being said, our first two days had extended rain. The cast members and locals were saying, "I can't believe it's raining in the MORNING!" and apologizing (as if it were their fault), but we bought some ponchos and kept going. Rope drop at AK was a little rough and rain pelting your face on Everest was a new challenge, but we survived! And had fun splashing in puddles. The Safari was our best ever with a lot of animals that were really active.

It usually rains in the afternoon every day this time of year. They are usually short storms and have not interfered with any of our August trips. Don't worry, focus on the positive, you will soon be in the World.

As others have stated...Think Positive....

When we went during August in 2012 we too were Skeeered--->:scared: about all the rain....Well that was the year that we got hit with the hurricane, and it actually went out further west ( instead of coming up the coast) It almost hit in N.O where Katrina did... Basically out of all 11 days there, it said rain in the forecast for 9 of them..we actually only had 3 short afternoon bursts, and the one day the hurricane hit, it rained from 8: 30 am to around noon, and that was it....

We're also going to be there from Friday on and looked at forecasts, but now after reading this post I remembered what happened to us....We'll be fine, but if this helps here goes.....pixiedust: For everyone going!!!

The % of rain forecast is simply for rain sometime during the day, somewhere in the forecast area. It's not a 90% chance of a rainy day. Why worry about something out of your control?

It storms almost every day down here at some point, but it's quick and you will LOVE the fact that the clouds will hide the sun!
