Well - we're finally getting the "winter" weather here in upstate NY that we have pretty much been spared from since December.. It's been snowing to beat the band all day - expecting 6" to 10" by tomorrow morning - and then I believe it's supposed to snow again the following day..

Anyhow - this storm is flip-flopping the barometirc pressure all over the place.. Back when I used to get migraines like clock work, I could always tell when a storm was coming because I would get a killer migraine.. Thankfully those days are pretty much over..:thumbsup2

However, all day yesterday while I was trying to work on my crocheting (not knowing there was a storm coming because I hadn't watched the news or weather), my head felt really "weird".. I wouldn't call it a "headache" - more like a lot of pressure; my ears feeling clogged; and a foggy, lightheaded feeling.. Went to bed last night, woke up this morning feeling okay - then as soon as the storm hit, the whole head/ear issue returned.. Ugh! I'm assuming it has to do with the barometric pressure fluctuating like crazy, but since it's not really a "headache" (as in producing "pain), I'm not sure what to do about it..:confused3 It's very, very annoying.. Tried to ignore it and continue on with my crocheting, but finally had to quit..:(

I remember reading threads/posts here about others who had issues related to barometric pressure.. Any home remedies I can try to get rid of these terribly annoying sensations? No point in taking pain medication - because there's no "pain"..:confused3

Really bugs me that I had to stop what I was doing, but it's just making it too darn difficult to concentrate..

Thanks in advance! :)

I live in an area with some of the worst air quality in the US and I have terrible allergies and a lot of sinus issues.

When the barometric pressure changes, my pain is so intense I have to take vicodin or an equivalent just to tolerate it. If we had a lot of weather changes here, I'd have to relocate.

That's pretty much how I was when I used to get the frequent, severe migraines.. Soooooooo glad that's not an issue anymore..:goodvibes

Maybe the weather is causing a sinus issue? Is that possible - without pain? :confused3

I would think so. I get severe pressure but the pain is only in one part of my left sinus area (from my nose to about halfway back to my ear) where I have a lot of damage. The rest my head and neck just feel the pressure and I get a mild ear ache in both ears, similar to what you are experiencing.

I know it's the barometric changes causing it. It doesn't matter if it's cold or hot out. I will feel fine for months and then there's a change and I have intense pain for 1-2 days as the pressure stabilizes again.

Barometric pressure definitely has an effect on health. There is no question about that. My joints start getting stiff and achy almost 48 hours before the barometer drops. I can tell when its gonna rain before the weather man knows. I just pop a few ibuprofen to dull the pain.

Rain today and snow on the way. I had a headache all day. I should have taken something early on, but thinking I was out I put it off. Thankfully when I did take something I felt better almost instantly. I'm pretty sure the headache was due to the pressure change. I often get a particular annoying type of headache or sinus pressure when the pressure drops and precipitation moves in.

Fluctuations in barometric pressure nearly kill me. When the pressure is really low...usually just before a hurricane, that's when my body feels light, limber and totally pain free. In other words, just before a hurricane I feel 16 again. :goodvibes

When I was on bedrest during my pregnancy, I would have to use a home uterine monitor and then send the results to a nurse via a phone line.

One day, when I was waaay over on the allowed number of contractions, the nurse asked me if it was storming where I was. I assumed it was because she may have heard static on phone line, etc.

Nope, she said it was because so many people go into labor during a storm. So, the barometric pressure certainly does have an effect on health!

Hope you feel better soon.

Very interesting! :)

Once the snow finally stopped early this afternoon (18" total), all of my annoying symptoms vanished.. :) Unfortunately there's another snowstorm coming our way late tomorrow into Friday - but - at this point it may stay south of us and if it does, I'm hoping I won't have a "repeat" of what I just went through..:)

All in all though, at least I didn't get the horrendous migraines that I used to with any type of approaching storm..:thumbsup2 While it was "uncomfortable and annoying", there was no actual "pain".. Yay!!! :yay:
