Hi

Last year (mid October) I went on a Caribbean cruise from fort lauderdale and found it way too hot. I did get a bit heat sick.

I'm trying to decide on what clothes to pack for wdw this October (early) so I don't over heat etc. What is the humidity / temperature difference between fort lauderdale and orlando?

I've been to wdw before in late October and late November.

Thank you. Trying to decide if I should get some more cotton trousers or not...

As you've experienced already, October can be extremely hot and humid. I've done five October trips. I've found that "moisture wickiing" or "quick dry" clothing really helps keep you cooler.

I notice you're from the UK. Can you find moisture wicking/quick dry clothes there, either in the stores or online? Here in the US, stores like REI (and outdoor clothing/grear company) has great options. Here's a link to give you some ideas:

I bought some hiking shorts at REI that were great. They were lightweight, cool, and I could even wash them out easily at night in the bathroom sink (they would dry by morning). I found that this type of clothing is even cooler than wearing cotton!

There really isn't much of a temp difference between Orlando and Lauderdale. Even though it is a little further south, it just means they stay a little warmer a little longer than Orlando.

I agree w/ previous poster. I live here and can tell you that Oct doesn't cool down until the end of the month and then it's rather marginal.
Early Oct is still really summer here with temps in the high 80's and low 90's. Humidity is still very high. That doesn't normally break until the end as well.

Prepare for heat so shorts, tank tops and tees. Drink lots and lots of water. . The evenings should be nice but very warm for you.

Hope it's a wonderful trip.

We were there in early Oct several years ago and it was 90degrees and 100% humidity.
Bring stuff that will keep you cool!

We were at WDW late Sept. 2013 and it was beastly hot and humid the last two days. On our last day we went to Epcot, at 2 pm. my husband looked at me and said...I'm done. We went back to the POR and went to the pool and the AC.

Thanks for the replies.

I have a few of those super cool/moisture wicking shorts (why didn't I take them last year...) and got a pair of trousers yesterday - sometimes I like to be covered up.

I've got a little fan thing to take with me and some small cans of cooling spray. Need to remember to drink lots of water and juices and to use the AC inside attractions during the hottest parts of the day.

Still not sure about getting a Buff UV neck thing (http://www.buffwear.co.uk/new-ss14-adult-headwear/ss14-high-uv-pro-buff/abaya-high-uv-pro-buff).... to keep the heat off my neck but wouldn't it keep my neck hot??

Not long til our holiday!!! :dance3:
