Can any one tell me what the weather was like when you have visited WDW the 3rd week in January?

I was just there, around that time, this past January. The early mornings and late evenings were cool, not cold just a bit chilly. I still wore shorts everyday but had to throw on a fleece pullover early and put pants on after the sun went down. There were still plenty of people swimming at the resort ( AOA) just not me, LOL.

I've been there many times in Dec, Jan, and Feb. During those months you just never know that the weather is going to do. Some trips I have worn shorts and swam all week, some trips I have worn coats, gloves, scarves, and hats and still froze, and then other trips the trip would be warm enough for shorts a few days, then a few days later I'd be in jeans and long sleeves. What I always do is get out enough clothes for either scenario, then just a few days before we leave, check accuweather.com and pack appropriately. However, even then I carry a little of everything. One trip accuweather was calling for warm temps all week, so all I packed was shorts. An unexpected cold front blew through and we had to buy sweatshirts and gloves and almost froze. Now if the weather is calling for warmer weather I'll pack shorts and T's, but then throw in one pair of jeans and a sweatshirt, as well as a pair of thin gloves. If it's calling for cold weather, I'll still pack a couple pairs of shorts and one swim suit, just in case. Winter in Florida is the toughest time of the year to pack for because it can change so drastically from one day to the next. I've worn shorts and coats on the same trip more than once.

as previous poster stated, Jan is tough but probably one of the best times weather wise if you are not inclined to the heat.

I live here and like Dec/Jan weather to March/April weather just about every where else in the country. Sometimes we have cool/cold Jan's (highs in the 50's) and sometimes it's warm (highs in the high 70's/80's). It's best to pack layers and check the weather starting 2 weeks before you leave.

The week we went we wore shorts everyday except the last day when it got chilly . We went back to the hotel and got sweatshirts and long pants.

I don't say this to be sarcastic...it will either be cold, warm, or hot (most likely between cold and warm). You really never know. I always pack jeans, shorts, t-shirts and sweaters that time of year.

Typically shorts and a t-shirt or long sleeve t-shirt by day, and jeans and a light sweater by night.

I can say that we've had more hot tub days than pool days that time if year. I really don't care for swimming unless it's hot!

And take a rain jacket.

Basically - go prepared!

That's our favourite time to go because the weather is great for being outside without sweltering and there are hardly any people around. Usually I walk around in jeans and tshirts with a lightweight sweater in my bag because it can get chilly as the sun goes down. This past year it was much colder than usual (thanks, Polar Vortex) so everyone was wearing hoodies and jackets, but every other time it's hovered around 70-ish in the afternoons with cooler temps in the mornings and evenings.

We went once in January and I vowed I would never go back at that time again. I found it too cold. I had to wear two jackets at night (mine and my husband's) and I didn't like that it was too cold to go swimming.

I live in Florida and January is one of my favorite months to visit the parks.I can't stand the heat, rain and humidity that last from April through mid October and January is right in the middle of the nice months. The temperatures can be all over the place in January but generally its pretty nice. The coldest days might have lows around 30 degrees with highs around 50,days that cold are not normal or regular but they happen. The warmest days could have highs near 80-85 with lows in the upper 60's.Most likely it will be somewhere in the middle, high between 68-76 and lows in the 50-60 range. The best part is that rain and humidity are low compared to the rest of the year, you could get an overcast rainy day when cold fronts come through, but the days following it will be cooler and very nice.

We were there Jan 16-25 this year. We wore shorts one day. Most other days, we wore long pants, with hoodies early and late in the day. One day, we wore multiple layers and gloves! It wasn't so cold we were miserable, although we might have been, if we hadn't had fleece jackets and gloves. (Pack your own! They don't take up much space, and WDW charges $10 for a pair of plain black stretchy gloves :scared1:)

The temp was right around 40 a couple mornings as we walked to the bus, but schools back home were canceled due to windchills of -30... so 40 suddenly didn't seem so bad! :lmao:

It still beats sweating buckets, in our opinion! It just makes it difficult to pack lightly. ;)

We went in mid Jan. 3 days we were in shorts, one of those days it got hot. But then the last day it was cold and we were in long pants and hoodies.

That is around the time that we often go. We have been warm enough to swim during the day and we have been so cold that my son wore spare socks over his hands because we didn't have any mittens with us in the evening.:confused3

My advice: bring clothing for all weather conditions, you just never know. From someone who also lives on a peninsula, we are used to the weather changing drastically from day to day.

We'll be visiting in mid-January next year and since we are coming from NY, we are traveling with our winter coats. Lol I personally love cooler weather.

Thanks for this thread, momminnie! Late Jan / early Feb is the time of year we're aiming for in 2015, and I was curious about what to expect. I live in Arizona and am a "flip flops year 'round" kind of gal, so 40F sounds balmy and pleasant to me. Can't wait!
