Wearing eyeglasses on the rides?

We leave for our first trip ever to Universal on Friday. I noticed a lot of rides have lockers to store your stuff, which makes me think they're pretty wild rides and my eyeglasses are going to fall off my face. Am I safe to wear my eyeglasses on the rides? I'm assuming that big roller coasters like Hulk and Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket are an automatic take the glasses the off. But when I see a ride like Men in Black has lockers, it makes me wonder. How can an attraction where I'm shooting aliens be that wild? Let me also add that my eye sight is horrible so I prefer to keep them on so I can see what's going on, but if my glasses break I cannot get them replaced in an hour - it's a 2 week special order! Could anyone provide me any recommendations for which rides I absolutely need to take my glasses off and which rides are safe to keep them on? TIA!

I've worn glasses all my life and have ridden LOTS of intense roller coasters and all the ones at Disney and Universal and have never had an issue with having to take my glasses off. That's me.

My husband and son both wore their glasses (my son was 12) on every ride at Universal without a problem.... Hulk, Rip Ride Rocket, Dueling Dragons. That being said they are a snug fit. I just called my son into the room to confirm he left his glasses on (you wouldn't catch me on the Hulk or RRR) when he rode with his dad.... he said 'yup' and then bent over and shook his head every which way. They didn't budge. A sport strap might give you added insurance.

That's me too. I only wear sunglasses but have never had any issues with riding a coaster with them on...as long as they fit snugly there shouldn't be any issues.

My daughter lost hers on the Mummy. We were in the last row and they flew right off. We never got them back despite calling lost and found several times.

I have never had a problem myself, but someone in a group ahead of me lost their sunglasses on Men in Black. I really don't know how.

I wear sunglasses and don't have any problem. I do though hang onto them while going over certain parts I know just incase.

My son wears glasses and he takes his off on some but not others. It depends on his mood.

It spins like crazy.

Because I tend to get bounced/smashed from side to side, I tend to take off my glasses for rides with over the shoulder restraints. I just don't like having a headache at the temples because my ears have been smashed into my glasses' arms and into my skull.

I have worn my prescription sunglasses on Hulk and my regular prescription glasses on Mummy and Men in Black without any problem at all. I have snug-fitting glasses - although one time before a trip I had a loose pair adjusted to become snug just for this reason - so I could keep them on while I ride!

Wow! Thanks for all the great feedback!

Can you tell me what croakies are?

croakies are eye wear retainors.

many use them for when they are doing physical activities or on a "roller coaster".....

you can get croakies that are tight to your head or loose.

they can also be used for sunglasses so when you take them off, no need to put the sunglasses in your pockets.

croakies
Name for the sunglasses strap first used by contractors, fishermen, golfers, etc, then made popular on college campuses in the south by fraternity guys. Considered by some to be the hallmark of the frat boy, much as the Vera Bradley purse is to the sorority girl.
Sport fisherman: I have croakies for my ray-bans that float in case they fall off in the water.

Never knew! Thanks for the info!

croakies are great for us for white water rafting and kayaking.

and they are good for roller coasters.....

you won't lose your glasses/sunglasses with croakies on.

THIS!
I've worn glasses/sunglasses 4EVER, and have always "tethered" them with the sport straps/lanyards when on rides. NEVER have had them come off!
Bass Pro Shops has them, as do many other places.

I've worn my glasses on everything in Universal without a problem, sometimes using croakies and sometimes forgetting them!

As other posters have said, as long as your glasses are snug it shouldn't be a problem.

Usually I take my bandanna and tie it into a head band and have it snug down to my ears overlapping the arms of the glasses. Never falls off and makes a interesting ride photo. Also, you can link together about 4 average rubber bands and loop them around the ends of your glasses arms. Works just like sports bands or croakies but a lot cheaper. You probably have the rubber bands in your junk drawer already. I have worn glasses and played action sports since grade school so I have lots of experience.
