Do brides usually wear the veil during the reception? I know I am getting rid of the train after the ceremony but what about the veil should I continue to wear it or not? Can't remember what I have seen at weddings/receptions that I have been to.

I remember that my cousin and sister-in-law left their's on. It just hung down in the back of what ever hair style they chose. They had short veils and it didn't seem like it bothered them or got in the way.

Partly it depends how securely it is anchored to your hair - my friend could not have got her's out very quickly, whereas mine worked its way further down the back of my head as the reception went on!

Also, its an expensive accessory (mine was anyway) to wear just for an hour or two, so i kept mine on til the dancing got very lively :rotfl:

I wore my veil all day, my friend took hers off at the reception and she didn't look like the bride anymore. I think they are beautiful and I loved wearing it all day.

i took my veil off. my veil was half way down my back. i mainly took it off so i wouldn't get it in my food. Disney Hair and Make up put my veil in the back of my hair style so it was easy to take out. your EM will put it in a safe place for you and will give it back, of course, once the reception is over.

I wore mine for the reception. It was placed on the back of my head, and I didn't have a problem keeping it out of my way when I was eating, etc. I loved wearing it, it made me feel like a bride.

Nothing will make you feel more like a bride than a veil will. My sister-in-law gave me that advice when I said I didn't want to wear a veil for my wedding. She was right! Being a bride is the best thing EVER!!!

I wore my veil all day because I loved it and it was very expensive so I thought I should get my money's worth. Also, my sister-in-law (yes, the same one!) was upset because at her wedding the year before her mom *made* her take off her veil at the reception even though she didn't want to. Her mom said it didn't "look right" to keep wearing it at the reception dinner and took it off of her while she was sitting at the dinner table. I think my SIL still is angry about it since it was one of the best parts/her favorite parts of being a bride!

I think the choice should be up to the individual. If you want to wear your veil, wear your veil. It's your day and you should enjoy it. You will remember it for the rest of your life and you will never again feel so special and so loved as you will on your wedding day. ENJOY!!! :wave2:

I'm going to leave mine on. When my soon to be SIL got married, she left hers on all day as well.

I'm hoping to wear mine for the reception. It's made out of silk tulle and it falls so nicely . I love the way it feels.

I had a cathedral length veil that I wore only at the ceremony with a shorter veil (a little longer than elbow length) that I wore the whole day (the cathedral length veil was attached with velcro and was easily removed). I enjoyed wearing my veil since it made me feel like a bride. :)

Getting married IS the best fun! I keep saying to DH we should renew our vows (but I would need a new dress - kids pile on the pounds!) but he thinks its tacky.

Maybe for our silver anniversary :bride: :groom: :)

Like previous posters have said, the veil is the really bridal bit of the outfit - if you have a detachable train you could wear the dress again (to certain events or with a bit of alteration) but you can NEVER wear the veil again, so make the most of it! :wave2:
