Our home resorts are SSR and AKV.

We would want a 2 bedroom.

When would I have the best chance of this happening?

Any advice would be appreciated.:worship:

I personally make reservations at 11 for my home resort, then try to switch at 7 months. We got a 2br at BCV for MLK weekend and I've stayed at VWL in early May(had to waitlist that one.) I would try to switch at a non-holiday, non-F&W period. I would only stay there if I could get a BW view.

We booked a 2 bedroom at BWV, standard view, for August. The start date was around the 19th of August, booked about 5 months out.

The easiest times to book the BWV at 7 months is January (not incl the week of New Year's) thru mid-February, May and September. The summer months are not usually a problem either (June - August). You still need to call right when the 7 month window opens, though - there are lots of members who also want to stay at the BWV and have to use the 7 month window.

If you get a standard view or a Boardwalk view at 7 months for anytime of the year, consider yourself lucky. It can happen, but it is not at all common for that to happen.

When do you want to go? You should be able to get a reservation at the 7-month mark much of the year.

Dont forget the waitlist. You could plan on AKV at 11 months and start a waitlist at 7 months... and then only switch if all your days become available.

As long as you don't mind the preferred view (more points than standard and not BW view), you could get it at 7 months exactly. Just make something at your home resort before 7 months so you'll have something in case you can't get BWV at 7 months.

As the PP's said it really depends on the time of year. In March I booked a 1BR Boardwalk View for the first week of June. I was able to get 7 of the 8 days I requested and the 1 day that we were wait listed became available last week. Im sure if I tried to book anything at the BWV for Christmas in September I would be very disappointed!

When I look at the Boardwalk Point Chart, the only views for Studio and 1br I see are for Standard and Preffered, i never see an option for Boardwalk view, do you just request it?

Yes-it is a seperate catergory but the points are the same as Preferred View.(somtimes abbreviated P/B view)

Good to know, i am trying to buy a resale of BWV in a few weeks, i mostly care about studios as its just DW and I (probably forever going to be that way).

Then don't ever try the one or two bedroom villas! Once you do - with the kitchen, W/D and whirlpool tub, you won't want to go back to the studios - even for the two of you. Just my DH and I are going in Sept. and staying in a studio (we had enough points left for a second trip this year in a studio and didn't want to waste them). I'm not even there yet, and I'm already missing the larger villa.

Geez, I've turned into a villa snob.

We stayed in a 1br Villa t OKW last year. It was GREAT... It truely was, but was a little overkill. I can deal without the huge rooms, but the best part was the W/D in room, and full size Fridge. We never once used the kitchen. The Jaquizze tub was nice as well.. I am sure we would want to stay there, but the cheap skates in us would say, just do a studio, its all you need for just the 2 of you.. Still has a balcony which is huge for me...

Don't gage the other villas by OKW - OKW's are unusually large. I love our BWV dearly and we love owning there, but the 1 and 2 bedroom BW villas are more than a bit smaller when compared to OKW (everything is) - including the balconies. The other villas aren't "overkill" when looking at size. OKW was the original DVC. Disney scaled back on everything that followed.

We bought at BWV because we like the resort and Epcot is our favorite park - it's only a short walk away. The old DVC adage "buy where you'll be wanting to stay" is a good rule to follow. It's certainly worked well for us.

I was able to book a 2-bedroom with BW view for the first weekend of the F&WF this past September/October. Did it day-by-day at the 7-month window and it was effortless. :thumbsup2
