Two questions...

Are there grills to use that are relatively convenient to DVC villas? If so what about tools? Heat source?

What are the characters at the Character Breakfast, and what is the menu? Is it buffet or family style meal? We are adults, and I want to do a Character meal and will try to convince someone to come with me.

Thank you!

Yes, there are gas grills at Aulani. They are on the Ewa side of the resort adjacent to the Halawai Lawn, just on the other side of Auntie's Beach House. There are four gas grills and at least two picnic tables. Grilling utensils are available from the Community Hall. Here are some photos:

The Makahiki Restaurant has character breakfasts. Mickey greets you when you arrive and then Minnie, Goofy, Auntie, and, sometimes, Chip and Dale will visit you while you are enjoying your meal. The character breakfast is a buffet serving a wide range of standard American, Hawaiian, and Japanese items. A copy of the menu is available at the official Aulani website.

If you don't want a character breakfast, you can always grab a bite to eat at the grab-and-go Ulu Cafe. The Ulu Cafe offers a standard breakfast menu, plus pastries, breads, fruits, etc. You can also pick up a Mickey Spam Musubi. Nothing says Hawaii like Spam and seaweed on a rice cake!

Thank you, thank you! We will probably grill, I am excited about the breakfast choices at the character breakfast, and DH enjoys Spam...so I'll bet we place at least one order of Soam Musubi!

Those are the messiest looking Spam Musubi I have ever seen! :joker: We have found the food at Aulani much better than some of the reviews on another travel website. Can't wait to go back in a couple of weeks! :yay:

Have a great time Bobbi. It's a great location at Ko Olina. I own at Marroitt's Aruba Ocean Club and traded for the Marriott in Ko Olina when Aulani was being built and the snorkeling in front of the resort is great. They have 4 man made ocean pools at Ko Olina and Aulani shares the largest of the four with the Marriott Ihalani Hotel which I stayed at many moons ago. The water in the pools is very calm as the waves break further out on the sea wall. Be sure to drive out to Lanikai Beach which is on the eastern side of the island. The drive through the mountains from Ko Olina to Lanikai is amazing then drive back around the northern perimeter back to Ko Olina to see even more of the island. Have a grea trip.

Thank you! I've copied what you suggest to Tom, and we will have a van and will surely try see the sights you describe! I cannot wait to snorkel on site!

One piece of information that we did not know. The grills are only available after 4, and they took the tables away temporarily, they have poured cement.
