We are back from our trip to WDW starting the day after Easter until Friday evening. We had a fantastic time despite the atypical and strange weather (hot and humid, then deluges of rain and wind with threat of tornado, then temperatures in the 40s, then warming up the day we leave!) and despite the huge crowds! I was surprised as to how much we were able to see with minimal waits by using FPs and lots of planning.
I imagine that the weather helped us a lot on Monday morning for early entry at AK -- the downpours kept lots of people away! As it was pouring rain at 7 a.m., we waited until the radar showed that the storm was moving through and did not arrive at AK until about 9:30 when the rain stopped, but there were no waits on any rides until the crowds arrived when the sun came out. We were able to do Dinosaur twice, the safari twice, Kali River Rapids twice, the Lion King show, Tarzan Rocks, eat lunch at Flame Tree, the trail and It's Tough to be a Bug all before 2:00 p.m.!! We then headed over to MK and were able to do lots of rides there in the afternoon!
On Tuesday we did early entry at MGM and were able to do lots there before we headed to Epcot in the afternoon. Even though Test Track FPs were gone at Epcot, we used the single rider line and practically walked right on! People caught on to the single rider line though, as when we returned in early evening, the single rider line seemed longer than the stand-by line.
We did EE at MK on Thursday, and while there seemed to be a lot of people at MK that a.m., we were able to do lots before noon. My kids rode Buzz Lightyear 5 times, and we did Space Mountain twice and Thunder Mountain twice, along with Carousel of Progress (brought back childhood memories from Disneyland!), Timekeeper, the cars and other minor rides. Not bad for one of the busiest weeks for WDW!
We did BB on Friday -- just as everyone recommended, we got there when it opened (more or less), even though it was only about 50 degrees! I couldn't believe how many people were running around in cold weather and bathing suits, but we were right there with them! It definitely made a difference in wait times to do lots of rides first thing in the a.m.
We had a great time, and now I won't be so worried about going to WDW during crowded times as it was not as bad as expected!!
