We were offered PBH when checking into HRH

When checking into the HRH on 8/25 for 4 nights, we were offered to stay at the PBH for the first night (and decide from there if we wanted to stay for longer). They said since it was a slow time over PBH we had this option. We decided to take them up on it since we know PBH rates are higher. We then spent 2 nights at each hotel. Our rate for the first two nights was only $134, so we thought this was a great way to try out the PBH. Did anyone else get this offer at check-in? While it was slightly inconvenient to change rooms, at both hotels are rooms were ready when we got there (by 8:30 am). We had a rental car, so we were not dependent on them getting us to either hotel.

The hotels are very different in that the PBH was so much quiter and less crowded. We did enjoy both though. Loved Mamma Della's (second time there), and also went to the Kitchen at HRH and that was a great meal.

Thats a great way to experience both resorts! PBH at $134 is awesome, congrats! Did you get Bay View? I still have the record at $129/night for PBH Club but that required several stays.

hi- we were there at the same time- booked at HRH club & offered PBH club for same price- and the first nite free!!
call me crazy but i didn't want to have the hassle of switching hotels- we didn't have a rental car & i didn't want to have to tip that many times for moving all my luggage back and forth for one night of PBH stay

sometimes i think i should have took them up on the offer as we were there a week- but once i get situated i don't want to move- we were paying $216 for HRH club

i am pretty sure we were offered this because the HRH was fully booked on the 25th

Hi VMS,

We are staying at PBH in the middle of October.

How was your stay? I ask because it has been getting some very poor comments on Tripadvisor lately, so I emailed them with some questions.

They mentioned that the Villa Pool was damaged by Charley and that they hoped to have it reopen by the time that we go. How was the hotel generally, was there much other damage and was housekeeping good etc?

The reviews on Tripadvisor can be a bit stilted, so I thought I would check with you!

Thanks,

Michelle

You're crazy. (hey, you told someone to do it!!) Now, as to you not taking the PBH room, I have no idea. :wave2:

HRH overbooks their rooms often. If their is availability at another on-site hotel they ask if you would like to move to one of the others. If all the on-site hotels are booked then they offer the Peabody.

We were given a pool view on the first floor. It was the main pool, my kids loved it, we did not go to the villa pool at all. I do not know about the damage from Frances, we were at VWL by then. As for the stay at PBH it was fine, no complaints at all. It was my son's birthday the second day there, and I had noted it on the original reservation, but realized we would not be at HRH, but PBH must have caught it. They left in the room a sandpail filled with a couple of little goodies -- pretzles, candy, etc. Nothing major, but a nice touch.

Wow, then I guess the PBH should lower their prices. Haven't stayed there, but walking back and forth from the HRH was the best. When you think about it, the HRH should have the higher prices.

The location at HRH is the best! IMO, the quality at PBH is higher than at HRH and does warrant higher prices. Unfortunately, PBH may not be in a prime location for such a luxurious hotel. It is much more relaxing, and romantic, which is usually more appealing to adults traveling alone. I would think that most people, including my DH & I, stay at HRH because they have kids and it is more kid friendly. If it were just DH & I, we would always stay at PBH. Then again, if it were DH & I, we would be in Paris, or on a Carribean Island somewhere.
