I thought this was so cool, I just had to share. We had twins born here last night. One at 11:58pm and one just after midnight on the 1st! Twins, born in different years! Plus, I'm certrain the last baby born in the city last year and the first this year. (We're only able to confirm the city, I bet it will extend further)

I had always wondered if people fudged these things, and now I am reassured they are fairly legit. (At least it was here) The actual OB doing the delivering refused to look at the clock. Everything proceded according to regular protocol. And we used the same digital clock used for every delivery for timing. Very exciting!

In case anyone is worried, btw, this is totally HIPAA compliant, as it's been released to the press.

I have a friend who had twins born on different days...one right before midnight, one right after. Different years, that's pretty neat.

That is so awesome. Twins born in different years! What a great story for them to tell.

Congratulations!!! What a neat way to come into the world.

Question:

So does that mean you can claim one for taxes but have to wait until next year for the other?

Sure does. We've been joking here all week about the 'tax inductions'
(Just a joke, I work in the pedi end and have absolutely nothing to do with when or how they get born.)

That was the first thing I said to DH as well. What on earth do you do for that?

That is unusual!

My twins were delivered very closely together. They were born in different minutes, but I don't think there was a full 60 seconds in between their deliveries. It was a very fast delivery because the twins were in distress.

:lmao: I worked nursery before we moved down here.

Maybe I'm the only one but I wouldn't want my twins to have different birthdays much less a different birth year. It may be neat for your hospital but I don't think it's neat for the parents or the twins for that matter.

You may not want it, but when it comes right down to it, they'll be born when they're born. I know when I delivered my kids I didn't care what time they were born, I just wanted them out NOW!!!!!! :lmao:

c-section or nvd?
if it was nvd then the doc would have had much less control over WHEN they came out.

Cool. I have had a twin delivery that was over an hour between the births.

Dates really do mean something to some people. My MIL was really horrified when she went into labor at the end of August, because everyone was telling her it was going to be a Labor Day baby. She pushed for all she was worth, and got that baby out before midnight. And one of my SIL went into labor on April Fools Day (which I thought was very funny, but she didn't.) She didn't really try to delay the birth, but tells everyone she was glad she 'held on' until April 2nd.

I went to HS with a guy who was born on his older sister's birthday. They were 5 years apart. Both had an April 1st birthday. Of course we always teased him that his mother was fooled twice.:rotfl2:

Wow. That is kinda cool.

BTW Ohiominnie..... I hope you don't mind but I "borrowed" your Ohio State flags and signs for my siggie. I am a transplanted Buckeye from Columbus, I know where London is. My best friend is from West Jefferson. If you mind I will remove it. :rolleyes1

Sorry for the thievery but it's cool.
