…and it was a success!!!

He loved the characters…Wore his MB with no problem (probably b/c he thought it was a "watch") We put our cell # on the MB in case he got separated, but he hung onto one of us at all times…Wanted to walk the park most of the time.
He got kissed by princesses…We almost brought Chip home…It was the most
A-MAZING trip EVER and we can't wait to go back…
He didn't nap much, but made it through ok. We just let him eat what he wanted when he wanted. I think the food were too rich for him…but overall…SUCCESS! :thumbsup2

Can you get a magic band for a 2 year old in your party? I thought you had to buy a ticket for them to get one. I am taking my DGD and she will be a month shy of her 3rd birthday. I want her to have one but thought since she was free she wouldn't get one.

So exciting to hear this, we are going end of April with one that will be very newly 3. He's pretty laid back and goes with the flow but have been a little worried about how he will do. So glad you had fun.

My 2 year old and 4 month old both received them in December. Just make sure they are included on the reservation.

3 magic bands appear on my disney experience app, I customized one for DS, so yes your 2 year old gets one.

So glad to hear this, we are taking our daughter for her second birthday THIS WEEK (she turns 2 on Feb 13, but close enough). We know she won't remember it later, but we weren't going to pass up a chance to go to Disney ourselves and after 2 polar vortexes we need 3 days in Florida. :cool1:
The only thing we're seriously worried about is how upset she's going to be when she finds out she won't be meeting the MLP characters, as she doesn't understand they won't be there along with all her other favorite characters.
Off topic: Someone REALLY needs to make an MLP theme park.

Thank you! You will have a blast I am sure!

We celebrated DS's 2nd birthday...Wear the birthday button…During the parade EVERYONE came up to him and wished him a happy birthday by name! Even people from the floats! It was like watching TV live in person! (he eventually didn't want to wear it anymore…I didn't worry about it…We had some fun with it!)

Wonderful to hear! We took our twins for their 2nd birthday last year and it was amazing! We're taking them again this year for their birthday, can't wait! My son loved the characters as well, played cars with Jake and colored with Mickey! They both kept their magic bands on ad well :)

Very cool! DS loves "watches" so we just told him it was his watch…Seemed to work well. He also caught on pretty quickly to the match Mickey to Mickey and was kind of bummed that his didn't work…So, I would make mine light up the Mickey and have him do the same quickly…Seemed to keep him happy with it.
People asked (and I am sure you all got similar reactions) "why take him at 2 he won't remember it." Yeah…He doesn't need to remember it…We'll go back…but the memories that DH and I have are priceless!

I'm glad you had a good time!! My boys went for their first times at 2 and 18 months and now at 10 and 6 they love looking at those pics and seeing what they looked like with the characters!! It's so incredibly magical for them at that age.

I used to be the camp 'why take them when they'll be to young to remember', but I changed my mind through the years. Everything you do with your child or grandchild impacts their life, whether they remember it or not, so keep those 'good' memory things coming.

We took our twin grandsons at 2 1/2 and again at almost 3 years old, it's something we will treasure forever and they had an absolute blast...nothing better than that.

Thank you for this! We work hard at making memories and traditions for our little guy…and this was just the start of making amazing memories and a few traditions along the way (having his silhouette done was the best $18 I ever spent and plan to each visit!)

Same here! I'm excited to get those silhouettes every year and see how they change. We did get a few people who said why take them when they're too young to remember but I didn't let it bother me, WE will remember, even if they don't. My daughter absolutely loves going through the photo album of our trip. We still talk about how excited she was looking around It's a small world and how cool it was her brother got to play with Jake, we'll have those memories and stories forever, even if they don't remember.

Absolutely! I think some of the bests part was watching him acquire new words (his vocabulary leaped this week) and the picture of the smug smile after seeing Aurora (his first princess) with kiss prints on his face. The look was like "Mom! She kissed me!"

Definitely looking forward to the next trip!

A great thread to read!

We are having our first family holiday to Disneyland (from Australia) in October, and can't wait! We will be bringing our then 7, 5 and 2 year old children along, and I too had wondered how our two year old would go. I also knew that 7 and 5 would be great ages for the older two to experience disneyland for the first time.
my first visit was at 21 years young and I vowed then to go back! And so I am......16 years later with my own children and husband.
I know our photos will create a lifetime of memories for all of us. My biggest joy will be seeing the look on my children's faces as they see and meet their favorite characters. (Probably a close second to the look on their faces when I actually tell them that we are going to DISNEYLAND!!!)

I've been when my daughters were 6,9,12,19 months and 2 1/2. I wouldn't trade a single age-- the babies soaked in all the colors and when my daughter was 2 she was SO darling, the memories and pictures I have are some of my favorites.
Every experience shapes who we are- otherwise, why wouldn't we just lock our kids in a closet and throw them some food every once in a while
until they can "remember". Everything kids see soaks in somehow, even if they can't specifically remember it.
I loved going with my babies, and we are headed back in march with my 4 and 2 year olds (with another on the way!) :)
