Okay, admittedly we got a little 'picture happy' during this last trip. But there is no way I can scrap all 1400 pictures. Has anyone else ever alternated a scrapped page with a plain photo page or anything like that? Any suggestions? I still haven't finished our 2002 trip, but DH is leaving on a business trip for a week, so I am going to scrap like crazy, finish the 2002 trip and get started on the 2004 trip immediately! Maybe I will even be able to surprise him with several finished pages when he returns from his trip! I'd love to hear any suggestions you all have.......P

I took about 900 on our last trip, the danger of a digital camera. I haven't started worrying about scrapping them but I've considered trying to find someplace I can print smaller pictures of some things like parades etc so I can get several pics to a scrapbook page.

Yes, I combine scrap pages & regular photo album sleeves all the time -- just for that reason.

I've done it in WDW trip albums....AND my regular chronological photo "ablum" is a combination of scrap & regular.

I usually use every picture, so I would understand, but I take about 500 pictures, not 1500!

The idea of using a regular page is a good one. CTMH sells protectors for individual pictures....6 per page. The layouts look great, one "fancy" page, next to a page with six pictures. Of course, you could do a page of this on any paper.

I have done some "collage" type pages. You can fit about 25 pictures on a page, if you cut them into 2 inch squares, and leaving a little border between. These pages look great!

I personally do alot of "9" pictures per page. They are cute too.

Hope that helps!

Have you seen the new Quickit's line? I didn't think I would like them, but they are great for speed. Around here we have Micheal's craft stores and they carry them.

Also I like both the ideas above, smaller pictures and picture sleeves alternating with scrapped pages. You don't need any special sleeve, you could just mount pictures on a plain sheet of cardstock with out any cropping, title etc. and use regular pp's.

I personally don't scrap every photo. I choose only the best ones for my albums and then the others go into a photo envelope or photo box. I like the new colobok albums that have matching photo envelopes and boxes.

I have also used a lot of the unscrapped photos in other albums.

I have also printed 8 photos to a 8 1/2 X 11 page. I guess that comes out to about 2 1/2 by 3 1/2. I think this will work out great for layouts of the tree lighting at EPCOT where I took shots of the different light patterns of the arch. I also took color changes of the castle.

I really haven't started my Holiday trip album yet, but I created a computer slide show using all 800 + digital photos. Sometimes I just turn it on and let it go. Maybe someday, when I learn how, I'll add music.

With that many pictures you could do a quick ABC album as well. It is quick and easy and that way you could have an album to share while you take your time working on the others 1474. I did a small Disney album for my mom for Christmas which I share with others so now I don't feel so rushed to finish my album.

On our recent trip to Italy I took about 600 pictures, thought that was a lot.

I used a 12x12 scrapbook, it has 78 pages a lot for one book. I only used about half the pictures. If your like me you took lots of photo's of different angles of the same scenes. Try to pick the best ones for each lay-out.

I did one 2 page lay-out for each scene, 2 12x12 pages on the outside of Vatican City, 2 12x12 pages on the inside. etc, etc. Lots of sights to see, with lots of photo's. There's no way I could get them all in one book. I have enough photo's for another book, maybe someday!

Sounds like if you want to use them all you may need 4 books.

Once I've downloaded them into the computer, I play around with them in both microsoft word and photoshop. You can insert them into word and make them smaller and then just print them out on photo paper. maggie

I usually don't use all the pictures we take. (we took a lot the past few trips, again the dangers of digital camera and laptop)

I usually burn a CD of them and DW looks through them and picks which she wants printed for our regular photo album, we buy each year while there. Then I upload those to the online printing site I use, print those for the album, then I pick through those good ones the DW picked and select the ones I want to scrap.

If you have all regular photos, I would go through them once and remove the ones that are not that great, and put them aside in a photo storage box, then put all those left in a regular photo album and then look through that for a while and really pick out the ones that bring back strong memories, and scrap those and the memories they bring up.

I do like the mixing the layouts with photo pages idea. I may have to think about that in the future.

On our 7 day cruise last summer I shot 26 rolls of film (36 exposures per roll) so that is somewhere in the neighborhood of 925-950 photos!

Any wonder I'm still working on that trip?

Anyway, as has already been mentioned I don't even INTEND to use them all. Many are duplicate shots "just in case", others are different angles. And some just didn't turn out well. The last category gets pitched.

Some of these I'll do some reprints zooming in on a particular portion, others crop down smaller. Some of the duplicates just plain don't get used. That is ok with me. I toss them into a basket as I'm working and eventually they go into a photo box. Kids can then pull them for projects, etc.

Another thing I have done is taking some of those duplicates and punching squares or circles as accents on the page - you know to mount letters on for instance.

Have fun!

I 'm another rabid photo who takes hundreds of photos. I do as some others and only scrap the best quality ones BUT I don't file the remainder.

I use my large, medium and small square punches to punch out details or faces from the good parts of the l"ess than great" photos, and use the squares for borders, frames, or fillers on the pages with the main pictures of the event.

Since I have SO many albums of Disney pictures, I mostly pitch my leftovers.

I just returned with 1200 pictures myself. You can NOT have too many pictures of WDW!

I plan on using the Deluxe Cuts Color Blocking templates. I can get lots of photos on a page that way. You can go to deluxecuts.com to see them. Another option is BH's new book Creative Sketches. She is good about getting lots of photos on one page.

There are some great ideas on twopeasinabucket.com . Click on the gallery and search by category.

I plan on making a fabulous scrapbook but I need to go shopping first. I want to see if I can keep the cost under the amount of a four-day hopper. Not sure that's possible!

I scrap for myself and others. What I usually do with a WDW or Cruise album is make some special pages. Then I make a standard border for some of the gotta have just this one more show.

Another way I have done it is using a particular color of paper per day. With a pocket page for pamplet's. I love making the more complicated pages.

One idea is to use the paint chips from Home Depot and saving on Disney embellisments.

I dont scrap all the pictures either. I am running into the same issue (2000 pictures!) with my DD's baby album. we have SOOO many pics of her. I went through them and the out of focus, baby's spitting up, grandma has her eyes closed etc. pictues went into an envie that I then went back and using my square punch--punched out baby feet, noses, faces etc. to use as embellishments. the rest--I went through and pulled out the best pics. the rest I put in mini photo albums in chrono order. I also wasnt afraid to toss or give away lots of pictures that were just duplicates etc. otherwise you will get overwhelmed!!!

I have found that the color blocking works good to show of lots of shots of one area. Say the castle, or main street. Things that dont need alot of journaling. Cut your pix into the size square or rectangle you like, fit as many as you can on a page leaving small spots for small rectangles and squares between them. This fills the whole page and gives you a way to use up scraps too! I can usually fit 10 or so shots on a 2 page layout. Plus you can cut little pix to fit into the squares. Let me know if you want to see an example and I will try to post a pic. Use two or three colors or two colors and a print paper to get a neat effect with this.

Another way is to use the becky higgins layouts. I got a bunch of her template ideas (black and white sketches) from CK's website awhile ago. One of them shows to cut 9 pix into the same size square and mount them on one page. On the other page you do a couple of special shots with the journaling. Great way to get all the pix of one thing like a parade onto a two page layout.

I have to say though colorblocking is my new favorite to use up mutilples of any event. It needs to be an event that requires little journaling though. Unless you save one bigger square or rectangle for a journaling box.

I like the sound of that idea, but not sure I completely understand it....if it wouldn't be too much trouble I would love to see pictures of yours.........Thanks........P

This is one of the reasons I've never gotten into scrapping. LOL! :D I just can't pick! :D

most of the time the link doesnt work but here goes if you can't view them send me an email and I will try linking you that way. Ignore the other photos they are from a book I did for a friend, blank spaces for her jounaling make the pages look empty. Anyway there should be 2 AK pic labeled color block, and two blizzard beach pages with squares on them. pg 2 of the BB is the one with 9 shots on it. My pages are simple but you could dress them up a bit. hope this helps.
