When my DH and I went to DLR we stayead at 3 different hotels.
1. Because I couldn't decide
2. Because it was cheaper (They all had their expensive night on a different night) and
3. Because we plan to go back with a bunch of people from my family and I wanted to make sure I really knew what each place was like.

Our first night was at Anaheim Plazza. It was perfectly fine. They always have a good price. The walk is about the same as HoJo.
The next two nights were at HoJo and we didn't want to leave. It was obviously a nicer hotel. You didn't have a noise problem like the other two hotels. The pool areas were definitely best. We had the view room and watched fireworks from the balcony. It took us 20 minutes to walk to Downtown Disney though.
Our last four nights were at Anaheim Desert Inn. It was fine too. Of course the walk was shorter. The continental breakfast was a joke. The refrigerator is very big, which might be good for a big group. The pool was O.K., and if we come back in December an indoor pool might be nice.

So, where would we stay next time? If I could get the Entertainment rate on all the rooms I need at HoJo that would definitely be it (even with the walk. If we poop-out we can shuck out bucks for the ART). If we can't get a good rate though, I'm kind of a cheapskate, so the Desert Inn was good enough for me. I know one member of my party is a hotel snob, but he won't want to walk very far either.

Thanks for the reviews! We have reservations for the C2 suite at the Desert Inn & Suites for January. I keep worrying, though, that it will be awful. The reviews are so mixed on that place. As long as it's clean, I really don't care. I'm mainly staying there for the closeness to the park and being able to have two bathrooms for a reasonable price.

How was the staff? I see a lot of reviews that they're very rude and others say the opposite. I guess everyone has their own perceptions.

We stay at the Desert Inn in the suites from time to time and it has always been clean. The fridge is handy. The breakfast will get you by just barely. It's the location that makes it perfect for people or children wanting a break midday.

You can't beat the Anaheim Desert Inn for the huge suites! I have been there a couple times and love the space -- especially with a big group or family. I usually take a box of cereal, then use their milk and juice to supplement breakfast.

Any staff we talked to were totally nice (almost as nice as Disney CM's);)

1st decent comment i've read about the anaheim plaza; tripadvisor none too complimentary.

when you say the HOJO's is nicer do you mean overall vibe or specifics?

I guess i'm trying to ask if the anaheim is rundown/outdated:confused:

was it clean?

I guess you could say the Anaheim Plaza was a little run-down and outdated when you compare it to the HoJo. I guess I'd have to say it was just the overall feel of the place and little things like the shampoos, lighting and coffee maker that made the HoJo feel ritzier. HoJo also has interior corridors and I think the walls must be thicker because we heard no noise from neighbors or outside (we were also a lot higher up).

We stayed at HoJo's this weekend and you are definitely right about the noise. I think it was the most quiet motel/hotel I have ever stayed at. We are thinking of trying the Camelot Inn next time. Mostly because it looked cute from the outside and it is just a bit closer.

Just got back (see ticker below) from the Desert Inn. This is my second visit and I have a 3rd planned for November. YES the breakfast is a joke, so knowing this I went the first night to Vons and bought myself some yogurt and cereal and bananas   to suppliment. No big deal. They have free milk and orange juice so it works. I will say this, this place has the absolute WORST coffee I have ever had!! Beware. Other than that, it was very clean, staff was very nice and even allowed me to stay parked at the hotel until 5pm!! You have to ask on your check out day for permission.

go for it!! It';s clean and close.
