We always said we would never stay at a value. Well DH just got a new job and a signing bonus to go with it. He has one week off between the end of his old job and the start of his new one. He really wanted to take the kids to Disney World. The only thing we could get was ASM. It took him all of 12 hours to cave in. So I guess it proves the theory that being anywhere at Disney is better than not being at Disney.

Now I have a trip in 9 days.

Thats wonderful! We stayed at ASM last October and my kids loved it. It was not bad for us it all. Have fun!

Wow, I'd be frazzled yet happy to be going in 9 days. We're not leaving for another 3 1/2 weeks so I'm a little envious. Go ahead and enjoy!

:)

We've always stayed at the ASM due to the theming and our girls being so young. I can also say that we have never had anything but a wonderful stay at the ASM. I don't know your reasons for never wanting to stay there, but you will have a fabulous time if you give it a chance! This year we are trying POR! :teeth:

POR is my very best favorite :cheer2: :cheer2:

You may never go back to ASM :confused3 :confused3

Did you call or did you check online? There have been a lot of reports of the online system being funky lately. I just have a hard time believing that there are no rooms in Disney for the 3rd week in April except for the ASM.

How was your first experience with a Value resort? I suspect with the crowds that were there in April the busses were full, but how did you like the resort itself?

As long as you go with the right expectations, you'll be fine. The rooms are smallish-plan for this, the pools don't have a slide (but still have a pool bar!), and the food court is the best one on property. We were very pleasantly surprised after staying the there. The grounds are really beautiful!

I have always said we wouldn't stay in a value resort....for no other reason that the theming doesn't appeal to us. We love POR where the landscaping is lush and green, or OKW with a golf course view. That being said, if DH said to me, "book something quick and let's go..." and a Value was all we could get.....you can bet I'd be whipping out my credit card to reserve it just the same!! :teeth: :teeth:

DH said the same thing, but we are staying at AS-Sports :cheer2: in November :goodvibes (He doesn't want to share a villa with BIL :rotfl: ) and this is the only other option. I figure, we are at the parks most of the time, and I am the only one who goes to the pool, :sunny: so he won't have to worry about anything. --- his thing about the All Stars is the room size.

We ended up at OKW and CSR. The rooms opened up at the last minute. We are DVC members so we used points for the first 3 days and moved to CSR for the last 2. When we were at CSR my DH told me that he has become a DVC snob. He loves having the one bedroom. This is funny because I am the one that made him buy DVC. So we still haven't stayed in a value.

We mostly do the deluxes, but we did a trip at ASSp, and it was just fine! As others mentioned, just be prepared for the smaller sized room (get two connecting if you think that will be a problem - then you'll have two bathrooms). Nice big food courts, and the theming is fun.

Enjoy! Being at WDW, no matter where you stay, is better than not being there!

Just look at it as a free bonus cone from dairy Queen. it is not a prime rib dinner but it was un planned and will still be sweet....... Enjoy and have a great trip.

By chance one year we could not get all the nights we wanted at the Poly and had to take one night at a valu, it was Pop Century, just brand new. We're in our 50's and our daughter and fiancee we coming later in week and that one night was the worst. Arriving at the Pop was like a zoo, we drove that trip and it looked like a ball game let out in the main court. They have no one to cart your bags or carts for you to do it yourselves. Food court was nuts as was check-in. Layout was nice, buildings and pool but to us old timers, way too many kids and noise galore. Food offerings were geared for the young and the bus transportation was along wait, alot of people stay at these resorts and the busses fill slowly and its along wait for the next. Leaving a park with tons of parents and kids to go back to the resort means either standing or being crowded beyond belief. I'm not of the kind, if I got to the bus early to get a seat, to give it up to someone that just strolled down at the last minute unless they are older than me. Gining it to a female who then has her kid sit there while I stand and the mother does is not right.

Couldn't wait to get out of there and too the Poly, whole different ball game. People are different at deluxes also, manners and feelings are way above normal. People say "good morning", "hello", "may I help you" and travel at a lesiurely pace compared to values. But it just might be me, but for us the deluxes are less stressful, better themed, friendlier and handier located to the parks.

I have to ask this. Do you honestly think people are better with manners, feelings, etc. at a delux? I have stayed from delux to moderate, value, etc. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences in all resorts. I find it a bit sad that you think us "value" resort goers are without manners. Did you speak to someone and they ignored you, or made a rude comment in return? What make s you think that the deluxes have a better class of people? My husband is in the Air Force and has been for over 21 years. We make good money, but not an overabundance. My husband and I are some of the most sincere and friendliest people you would ever meet. Just because someone doesn't stay delux doesn't mean that they aren't good people. Just my opinion!

I think the previous poster to the last one was talking more about the staff of the deluxe resorts, not the guests.

I experienced the same level of service from CMs at values and deluxes (have never stayed at a Mod so can't comment)

The guests seemed the same, too :)

We loved ASMo. You will have a ball!

Some of us are just happy to be able to afford WDW be it mod or value, maybe I'll learn manners when we can afford deluxe. Until then, let the games begin at ASMu.

These boards are for opinions, guess you're not susposed to post your own but state what others say. Those are my opinions and mine only, I don't really care how you feel or what you do or how much money you make. I see and feel what I want while in Disney and never had a problem at any of the resorts but the overall feeling of friendliness and manners are my personal experiences and your post does not change my reserve of other people, resorts, manners or attitude.
