We received our statement today

But I have a slightly different question. When we purchased, we chose to pay our dues annually. We think that we remember that dvc said that we could change that in the future. Well, I think that we want to change to monthly. Is this still a possibility? Eventhough I am sure that our statement has already been mailed, is this something that can be changed for Jan 2004?

Call MS and ask them on Monday. MS likes to know by late November if you want a change in your payment of dues. I am pretty sure they may be able to accomodate you if you fax them your info on your checking acct. on Monday.

Ok, just walked out to the mailbox. We got ours today in Minnesota. We have 200pts at BCV. We bought over Memorial Day weekend. We have a credit applied for overpayment for 2003 in the amount of $91.27.

Oh boy..... My tax deduction for Proprerty Taxes paid in 2003 was a whopping $1.41. Take that Uncle Sam!!!!!! That should generate a refund for the FriendsOfEeyore household.

I don't understand how BCV had such a big tax credit. I believe all of the other resorts were underpaid. Why would taxes only be $1.41?

All the ones that have had the big tax credit bought in 2003. They estimated the tax we would pay for the little time we owned and I guess got it way off. Our tax is the same as yours, we just overpaid last year when they figured our tax at closing. So we are getting the credit for overpayment.

We have been paing over $100 a month in dues for 200 points, now it is in the 60's. I assume it should have been around $80 each month from what I am hearing so since we were overcharged, we get a break this year.

Switching to monthly payments shouldn't be a problem. I did that last year after the bill came out. Call Member Accounting and they will give you the instructions for setting it up. They will take into account that you are in the process of setting things up so don't worry about the timing.

This statement that we are receiving now is the one to use for your tax returns. For this year's taxes, you will use the actual 2003 property tax paid. These taxes have already been paid. I'm not sure about the technicality of the shortfall...we owe DVC money but I would think they could "cover" the tax payment with what we have paid them already and that we just "owe" on our dues. The IRS would really be nitpicking on whether the $5-$10 were paid in 2003 or 2004.

We got our statements today also... both for OKW/BCV contracts and the BWV contract... Illinois.

I think we will pay monthly from now on. Although we prefer to pay in one lump sum, we wish that sum was due in June and not right after Christmas.

Just a word of caution. Those who are seeing a reduction in their dues payment this year because they overpaid last year, take a moment to figure out what your dues actually are. Multiply your number of points by the dues payment for your resort. This will help you get an idea of what the dues figure really is. Otherwise, next year when you are back on track paying the full amount, you may have "sticker shock". I've read several posts on another board where people are floored with their dues payment and I assume it's because they were in a situation of paying an artificially low amount last year.

I do realize this is shortterm but since most of us newbies have been paying over $100 for something that should be $80, it will not be that new for us. I know the $60's will not last. But we have been paying much more than normal since August so we do have it budgeted in, I already added the extra money to be taken each month to my daughter's college fund so if I need, I can reduce it back next year to pay for the extra dues if I need.

on our statement. We own OKW and VB. Our taxes were under paid last year for both by about 11 dollars. Our dues went up 14 dollars for Feb-Dec. Our Jan payment is 26 dollars more than last year. I think it is strange that most went down. I didn't look back to see what overall was paid last year except that our payment per month is more and we under paid taxes. I wish we could say we got a credit. We have 450 points at OKW and 150 at VB.

DH nearly died when he saw our dues bill. I then had to remind him that we just added on!! He originally thought 1800. + was for each contract and then I told him the contracts were combined and that was for both..................he was a little happier!!

YIKES!!
Our 460 point contract at Old Key West just produced an almost $300 increase in our bill!

We got our statement in the mail yesterday. We own at VWL and saw our annual dues go from $66.04 monthly up to $70.04. This is not so wonderful, but what can you do. Since we have paid off our contract, can we still apply the property taxes paid for the last year onto our taxes?

Thanks for the info.

disney here we come to rock n roll the new year thru!

My monthly installment of the fee is scheduled to come out on the 15th of Jan, My 2003 bonus check will come around the 19th, I want to go ahead and pay off my fee when I get my bonus can I call in and just pay the remaning balance or send in a check or do I have to have it continuously come out of my account the rest of the year.

Skiwinnie -- Call Member Accounting. I'm sure they can set you up if you want to pay it in full.

Our 500 points (OKW, BCV and VWL) just went up $13.18/month.

Is mine the only one that the monthly payment exactly equals my 250 points x dues / 12?

I own 250 at BCV. The dues for next year is 4.1786. My monthly payment is going to be 87.05.
