I called in today and was told that the lineups in the Edmonton office are 8 hours long!!

It opens at 8:00am and the guy told me lineups are starting at 5:45 am! He said by 7:30 the lineup has 600 people in it! And if you aren't in line by 7:30, you won't get in, and will be sent home. And even if you are in line, you still aren't guaranteed that you will get to talk to a person, and may be sent home. He said bring a chair, a lunch and a book. And expect to wait a minimum of 6 hours. And even then, he said it will be a minimum of 5 weeks before you get it back.

Apparently people (that don't need a passport) are waiting in line, and 'selling' their spot to the highest bidder! And people are paying people to wait in line for them! Crazy!

I need a fastpass!!

I would have thought the lineups would have decreased as soon as the deadline passed. How crazy. Maybe the Edmonton office is the only one for a huge area.

The nature of back logs is that it is likely only going to get worse. I know that we will be completing our forms soon and we travel in June. I believe they did offer fast pass though, it was called September.

:lmao: :lmao:

Yes, they did give us adequate warning didn't they!

We don't travel until August, so I'm not too worried yet. I just worry-- What if I win a trip??? I enter enough contests!!

Just have to stay in snowy Canada for now!

:rotfl:I believe if you start the process online then you can be ahead in the line up but I may be mistaken. I have to get one for DS and no online for an infant.

OMG people SELLING spots in line? i am surprised that the gov't office hasn't found a way /loop hole to not allow that! thats insane! yikes!

That's what I did last time I got my passport. We did everything online and we were put into a different line at the passport office. It look my fiance and I less than 30 minutes to get in and out. Of course, this was about 2 years ago and no one else was rushing to get their passports as well.
