we need a microwave at Pop

Is this thread still going? Wow.

I commented that low cost hotel chains had microwaves (as do some nicer hotels and virtually all suites and condos). I don't consider Pop or the Allstars particularly fancy and it seems to be the fancier the hotel the less likely it is to have a microwave. I think that Disney could have them - I just want my tea!

Anyway, what did the OP decide to do? Does anyone know?

You should get yourself an electric teapot. The water boils really fast. They even make them cordless now.

Just wanted to insert an unbiased opinion ...

If you have to ASK if it's OK to have something in a hotel room, it probably isn't OK. Example, no one has ever debated if they can take their toothbrush.

Just sayin' ...

Logic! Best post on the thread. :thumbsup2

Pop and All Stars are not CHAIN hotels. I would agree with you argument if you said Red Roof had microwaves but Motel 6 does not. Why doesn't Motel 6 put in microwaves? (I am not sure if they do or don't in reality.)

Low cost chain hotels do not have any place to eat. POP and All Stars do. Big difference.

Let's just go with the 'rule' of common sense. If the property - ANY property - doesn't provide a device or appliance either in the room or by request free or for a charge, they don't want/expect whatever it is to be used in their rooms.

Well, that's not true at all. With all due respect, my son has to use a nebulizer for his asthma -- and it's definitely an electric machine that the hotel does not provide. The day we can't bring that and use it in the room is the day we stop going to Disney! And my DH has a CPAP machine to sleep and if he can't use that........and the hotel does not provide or rent us one. Anyone who has a CPAP knows that you have your own machine calibrated to your own needs.:flower3:

I am pretty sure that any hotel would make allowances for devices that are a medical necessity.

I REALLY like my 50" Viking Range. Suppose they'd mind if I bring it along? :)

(runs for cover)

Seriously tho.. a lot of interesting points covered here.. but I can't see dragging something as large as even a small microwave on my vacation.. even if I were driving.

Perhaps I need a larger vehicle..

If your range is electric, and you got a pickup truck with a cap (to protect the range from the elements) - sure, bring it.

When are you planning to visit? I've got some vacation time coming...

But here's dilemma with that:

I have seen people post that they got home and had a picture of someone using their toothbrush to clean the toilet! So I am not sure if it is okay to bring my toothbrush on vacation - so they only way I will bring mine now is if I can bring my microwave to use my microwave disinfectant cleaning steamer on my toothbrush each day. :rolleyes1

I disagree. I bring my Keurig coffee maker with me on trips all the time to plenty of hotel rooms (disney onsite hotels included) and wouldn't think twice about it. Never had any trouble at all. I've even had several luggage guys help me with it.

And this isn't addressed to the poster above, but to complain about smells at a place like Disney as a reason not to bring something to heat up some food doesn't fly with me. Um, how many soiled diapers do you smell a day? How about all those people who don't wear deoderant to the parks? How about all the farts you smell at theme parks? Nasty colognes/perfumes? Even just sweat on a crowded bus or monorail after a day in the parks?

I guess I just don't get the argument of, "Well, the smell of someone reheating some food might bother the neighbor," when they've been getting whiffs of the stuff I listed above all day long, day after day after day.

Actually, I don't think I've ever smelled a soiled diaper while at WDW. Definitely not enough to complain about.

Besides, unless you are a 5 year-old, the argument of "but they did X which is just as bad, so I should be able to do Y", is rather lame.

I could just as easily twist it the other way - given how many whiffs of the stuff you've list above we get all day long, day after day after day, people should avoid doing this that add to the problem.

Um, how many soiled diapers do you smell a day? How many of those smelly diapers are heated up in a room adjacent to yours until they're in their "ready" state? How about all those people who don't wear deoderant to the parks? How about all the farts you smell at theme parks? Nasty colognes/perfumes? Even just sweat on a crowded bus or monorail after a day in the parks? How many of these people, again, are safely heated to temperatures about/above 165º in a cooking appliance in a nearby resort room?

There's the huge difference. "Whiffs" from which they can quickly move away, and which disperse themselves easily in the open air. NOT cooking/overcooking smells, or even the smell of something offensive, from an adjacent room... when the occupant has a reasonable expectation of reasonable comfort.

:scared1: LOL
fergie.. ur killin me..

where do u think we should store the meat to cook on the hibschi? need me to bring my upright freezer??:lmao:

I'll bring my fire pit and we can all roast marshmallows and weenies.

In my room, of course.;) Disney doesn't specifically state that I can't so it must be ok.

You forget the fondue pot. That's essential.
