I'm sorry, I'm not sure where to post this. DH went to the doctor yesterday, and found out he has tonsillitis and had white spots that turned out to be abcesses. He got antibiotics last week from his primary, and the white spots are dissolving, but today he has to go to his throat specialist. He may have to have his tonsils out ASAP! Since he only has one week of vacation, we may have to postpone our trip :sad1: We're supposed to leave April 29, so I'm praying that the antibiotics are working enough, and that he won't have to have his tonsils taken out in the next 3 weeks :worried: Taking the kids myself isn't an option, so please pray for my DH!!! This is the kids first trip, I don't even want to think what it'll be like to tell them we have to postpone...they've already started packing! If we do have to postpone, we won't be able to go until September

Lots of prayers and pixie dust that it all works out. If things don't work out-- then try to reschedule as soon as possible, as it helps alleviate the depression. Hopefully this won't be needed though. I can sympathize with you-- my family was booked on a flight that is leaving TODAY at 5:25 pm to Orlando-- we won't be on it sad to say.

I'm sorry to hear that. We, too, had to postpone our trip from Sep 2004 to May 2005 and it was quite disheartening.

I'll pray for your DH's quick recovery resulting in no impact to your vacation plans.

Let us know how things go.

Thanks everyone for the support. This is why I love the Disboards! Anyone know how long it takes to recover from a tonsil removal surgery? I had it done when I was 13, I swear it was only a couple of days and I was okay. Even if they do it next week, that should hopefully be enough time to recover before we leave on the 29th, right?? :confused3

I guess we'll know at 3:00 when DH has his doctor's appt....

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am 27 and just had my tonsils taken out on March 30th. I would rather give birth to an elephant then have it done again. It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. It has been 13 days, and I think I may have eaten about 100 popsicles in that time frame. I have yet to be able to eat a "normal" meal, and it still is painful to yawn and swallow. Here is praying that if it can't wait, that your DH has the fastest recovery ever!!!! :flower: :flower:

Lots of prayers for DH's speedy recovery. We are scheduled for the same time as you, and I know how horrible it would feel to have to cancel. Hopefully lots of pixie dust will help make everything work out. :wizard:

Sending prayers your way! I'm sorry to hear about your DH being ill. Can you postpone the trip until later in May?

Here's much Pixie Dust that your DH gets better!!! I hope your poor little ones don't have to be disappointed!

We don't have a trip planned this year and I feel bad for our DD (7) - she's been blessed enough to go to WDW every year since she was 3 but some nights when I tuck her into bed she starts to cry and say 'I miss Disney World'. :guilty:

As far as tonsil surgery recovery - kids do much better with the recovery than adults. My DD had her tonsils and adenoids out when she was 4 and recovered very quickly. However, one of my co-workers, a man in his 30's had his tonsils removed and it took him 2+ weeks to recover.

Best wishes!!

Debbie

Sure hope hubby feels and heals quickly. We know what it is like to cancel a trip to see ::MickeyMo - not easy thing to do. I am sending lots of pixie dust to you.

So sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he gets good news today. We are leaving the 30th & I can't imagine how that would feel to have to cancel after all of the planning & excitement. We will all be praying for a good outcome today :earsgirl:

Lot of prayers and pixie dust coming your way! :flower:

And if you do have to reschedule your trip, look at this as a blessing . . . you never know . . . perhaps your hubby could have taken ill during vacation. Now that would be pretty crummy!

Hope your plans don't have to change. Just remember we are all here for you! :sunny:

Still haven't heard anything yet, which to me doesn't give me great hope  Thank you for being honest though, DH is 29, so it looks like it would probably be a pretty lengthy recovery :(

I am really sorry to hear about your husband. I hope that the antibiotics work and you don't have to cancel. My stepdaughter, 24, had her tonsils out just last July. She was not a happy camper for most of the week she was home and it took her 2 weeks after that, I'm sorry to say, to bounce back fully. I've heard similar stories from my DH and a good friend, both of whom were adults when they had their tonsils out. Wishing you all the best for a non-canceled vacation.

Ok, well DH just called. He says he does have to have his tonsils removed, but he also has to have his deviated septum fixed. First he has to have a sleep study done before anything else, which is scheduled for May 10 :) Since we'll be back May 8, I think we're in the clear! He did say if he gets sick again before the trip, the doctor may do emergency surgery, but as long as he doesn't, at this point all systems are go for Disney! I'm still going to cross my fingers that he doesn't get sick again, and of course make him take ALL of his antibiotics :D Thank you all so much for your support, your prayers and crossed fingers must've worked!! :flower:

Yippee -- I am glad you get to go! I hope y'all have a magical and healthy trip! :flower:

So glad to hear everything is going to be okay with the trip. I'm sure you'll be glad you had the trip when he has the post surgery crankies....We'll be there the same time as all of you! We can't wait either! Here's to lots of pixie dust all around! :cheer2:
