We just got home yesterday (May 31) from a great trip. We were at the Fort May 13 May 21. We had a great time. We will be going back the campground was great except for the Ironman Triathlon. The entire race was at the campground, 2000+ participants with spectators. You had to have a reservation for the Trails End for the breakfast buffet. I tried to get a muffin to go and the line was out the door. That was after I was not allowed to take my electric kick scooter up to the bike rack in front (bicycles and a Segway were allowed through). The transportation was a mess for the entire day. We were unable to get our truck out of the campground because they closed the loop exit for the race. So Disney transportation was all we had for the day. Some guests were unable to leave until after the race, they extended check-out for the day until 1pm (not much help if you were on a tight schedule). Disney forgot about the guests that were staying at the campground when planning the race. They were only interested in the race participants and there familys. I complained to the front desk and they made it right.
The fires in Georgia and Flordia change our plans when they closed Interstate 75 and 10. We had to go a different way. We had reservations at Wildwood KOA for the 13th and canceled them on the 12th because the State Police made us take US 19 instead of Interstate 75. Wildwood KOA refused to give back the one night deposit they had a 48 hour cancellation policy. It has soured us on KOAs. We were able to get into Disney a day earlier than planned.
